School Reporter is planning to have an ice-skating party later in the year. This time the boys will, be in charge ot the food, as the girls were in charge of the refreshments this time. —D.H.S.— ■" The girls of the senior class were glad to hear that their cream corduroy skirts have arrived. They may be picked up at any time at Jani Lyn. The girls are glad that they will have their skirts for the first basketball game, which really isn’t too far away.

-D.H.S.The freshman biology classes have handed in their insect collections. They have now been returned to them. Some of the outstanding ccrilections are being displayed in the showcase on the second floor of the school. • —D.H.S.— The juniors have been told that the merit scholarship tests will be given to them some time in April. The Juniors should have their money and name in the office by the end of this week. —D.H.S.—
This Friday night the Yellow Jackets will travel to Columbia City in attempt to win their third game of the football season. This is also an N.E.I.C. conference game. Good luck, team . -D.H.S.’fhe entire school would like to wish Phyllis Schmidt good luck in her new school. Her father has accepted a call to Faith Lutheran church at Lincoln, Neb. Phyllis will attend a school with an enrollment of over 1,000 students. Phyllis was to be school reporter f6r the second semester. Now that

Last Friday and again Monday,, tryouts for c h e e r 1 eaders were held for the varsity and reserve teams, re-j spectively. Seven, girls and two boys competed for the varsity)
spots. The students not receiving
these positions were eligible to try for the reserve team cheerleaders. Eleven girls and two boys were striving for this honor, —M.H.S.— Elected as varisty cheerleaders were Kay Bultemeyer, Joyce Busick, and Linda Kruetzmann. Kay is the only senior member,* and .Joyce and Linda are juniors. Each girl has had some previous experience. Other girls and boys trying for positions were Winnie Rafert, Gladys Meyers, Rosie Bultemeyer, Winnie Mankey, Jim Fuhrman, aind Jim Thieme.
In order to have experience for future years, six students were chosen as cheerleaders for the reserve team. There are two sets of threes, and each group will alternate at the ball games. Those elected were Marion Caston, Judy, Lila Kruetzmann, Gladys Meyers, Dorothy Schiemer, and Jim Fuhrman. Others trying for these positions were Winnie Mankey, Gladys Busick, Marsha King, Barbara Fuhrman, Faye Bittner, Barbara Roe, and Jim Thieme. —M.H.S.— Subscriptions for the annual are
now on sale and may be purchased Elected as varsity cheerleaders will cost $3 per book, with a deposit of $2. Let’s make every effort to get subscriptions in as soon as possible. -M.H.S.— Congratulations from all MHS go to the twirlers who competed in the NISBOVA contest last Saturday at Columbia City.
