Patsy Burkhart Is Married Recently To Russell E. Lenhart Palms, pink and white gladioli in beauty vases, and candelabra formed the setting for the August 31 marriage of Miss Patsy Ann Burkhart to Russell Eugene Lenhart. Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Burkhart are the parents of the bride and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey P. Lenhart. Performed at 2:30 o’clock by the Rev. Seth Painter, the double ring ceremony took place in the Salem Methodist church. Mrs. Elmer Ehrsam, organise played “Clair de Lune,” “Ich Liebe Dich,” “Liebestram,” “My Dearly Beloved,” and others during the 20 minute prelude. Lynn - Mefford sang “Because,” and “I Love You Truly.” The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, appeared in a gown which she designed and made herself. Os French imported Strauss lace and tulle, the gown featured hand clipped lace motifs which were appliqued over the tulle molded bodice which had a sabrina neckline of lace scallops. sleeves tapered to points over the hands, and her bouffant skirt had panels of lace -and tulle with a back that billowed in bustle tiers to a small brush train. Her fingertip veil of imported illusion was caught to a cap studded with iridescent sequins and seed pearls and she carried a white Bible topped with white bab.v mums and pink sweetheart roses with pink and white streamers tied in lovers knots. Mrs. John W. Burkhart was her sister-in-law's honor attendant and she wore a crayon green floor length gown Os satin with a cumberbund of green which fell down the side of the gown. She wore a headdress of three shaped rosettes in green from which fell a circular veil. A bouquet of pink and white baby mums was carried by the matron of honor. Miss Joan Lenhart , was the bridesmaid and little Miss Melinda Stewart was the flower, girl. They both wore gowns identical to the 'i honor attendant and the flower girl j carried a basket of white and pink | baby mums. Duaine Lenhart, brother of the! bridegroom, was best man and i | groomsman was John W. Burkhart. I! Seating the guests were Leslie Stewart and Janies Butcher. All the men in the wedding party wore ] white dinner jackets with pink car-j nations for boutonnieres. „ Roger Burkhart and Melvin Burkhart, brothers of the bride, served as junior ushers. They were j in charge of the guest book, lit the candles and pulled the traditional ! white carpet. They also wore white dinner jackets as did Milton Stewart, who carried the rings on a white satin pillow. Mrs. Burkhart chose for her daughter's, wedding, a dress of

grey and orchid silk print. She wore matching accessories and a lavender orchid. Mrs. Lenhart was attired in a powder blue lace dress over taffeta with matching accessories and a white orchid. A reception was held at the Decatur Youth and Community Center for approximately 125 people. A pink and green color scheme was used, with a pale green iced cake on a linen covered table used as the center-piece. Other decorations included silver wedding bells and white mums. Hostesses for the reception were the Misses Suzanne Kuhn, Marlene Ohler, Barbara Harris, Mrs. Wayne Clouse. Mrs. Boyd Bie'nz and Mrs. William Johnson. A blue print modified chemise dress with matching accessories and the flowers from her bridal bouquet were worn by the bride . for a wedding trip. Mrs. Lenhart attended Purdue University and will complete her education this*fall at Lindenwood College in St. Charles. Mo. The bridegroom graduated from Purdue University and is now employed as a mechanical engineer with McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis, Mo. SURPRISE PARTY IS HELD FOR MRS. RUTH MARBACH Sunday evening, Mrs. Ruth Marbach Was surprised with a party held in honor of her birthday anniversary. A dinner was held, and later the guest of honor received gifts and cards were played. Those present for the occasion were Mrs. Betty Hackman and sonsrMiker Rickey, and -Jeff. EVERREADY CLASS MEETS AT METHODIST CHURCH A meeting of the members of the JJverready class of the Methodist church was held recently in the church lounge. The president, Mrs. Gail Baughman, was in charge. After the singing of hymns, Mrs O. L. Vance gave the devotions taken from the magazine "Family : Altar,” During the business meeti ing, the secretary and treasurer’s | reports were read. Mrs. N. A. Bixler gave'a talk on the Washington Cathedral in Washington, D. C., where' she recently visited. Following the meeting, refreshments were served by Mrs. Lloyd I Ruse. Mrs.,D. L. The program for the evening consisted of the showing of colored I slides of an European tour which included Ireland, Scotland. Norway, Sweden, Denmark. Switzerland. France and England and taken by Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Stuckey of Berne. Guests other than husbands were Mrs. Helen Flickinger. Mrs. Lydia Foughty. and Mrs. Lucile Miller. Members of the Guardian Angels study club will meet Thursday at 8 o’clock with Mrs. Joe Schultz. Thursday at 8 o'clock, members of the St. jude study club will meet at the home of Mrs. Vivian Powell. FALL SEASON IS OPENED BY WOMEN’S GUILD The opening meeting for the fall season of the members of the Women’s Guild of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church was held Wednesday with a carry-ln supper in the social rooms of the church. Mrs. Robert Houk, planned the program, which introduced the theme "We believe in the sacraments.” She was assisted by Mrs. Adolph Weidler and Mrs. Tom Adler. During the business meeting, pre-sided-over by Mrs. Joseph Hazelwood, reports were heard from Miss Margaret Klickmap and Mrs. Ann Lehman, who were delegates to the Heidelberg summer conference. Also, Mrs. Weidler reported on the day that she and several other guild members spent at the national Christian education conference held at Purdue. New officers presented by the nominating committee and unanimously accepted by the group were Mrs. Rufus Kirchhofer, president. Miss Alice Roth, secretary. The vice president, Mrs. Richard Kershner and treasurer, Mrs. Har-; ry Heuer will retain their office for! the coming year, which is the custom of the guild. Co-chairmen for Christian service, Mrs. Richard Schafer and Mrs.; Clarence Snyder, announced that 140 pounds of used clothing had' been donated for the world service! and asked that the ladies keep do-' nating. Hostesses for the evening were! Mrs. James Cowan, Mrs. Harold Cox. Mrs. Alton Corson. Mrs. Charles Daniels, Mrs. Harold and Mrs. Robert Drake. Mrs. Cletus Heimann, of Monroeville, will be hostess to the members of the St. Catherine's study club, which will meet Tuesday at 8 o'clock. An afternoon meeting of the members of the Zion Lutheran Needle club will be held Thursday at 1 o'clock at the parish hall, ' Members’ are to bring a gift for a sunshine box. Mrs. Ray Schultz will be hostess Thursday at 8 o’clock to the members of the Queen of Rosary study club.

SALEM WOMEN’S GUILD MEMBERS ATTEND SCHOOL Tuesday, approximately 40 members attended the meeting of the Salem Women’s Guild school with Mrs. Irvin Worthman as teacher. Upon arrival, everyone received a sack lunch and reader book. Included in the book were a daily schedule, music and tests. At 8 o’clock, the fi#st bell rang and after ’the teacher had offered a prayer, “School Days” was stmg by the group, accompanied by Mrs Ella Scherry. A scripture on baptism was given and a'skit presented by Mrs. Gerhart Witte, Mrs. Arthur Adam and Mrs. Richard Borne. Next the scripture on holy communion was read and a skit on that subject was given by' Mrs Loren Kruetzman, Mrs. Milton Hoffman and Mrs. Richard Gerber. During the noon hour, the sack lunch of sandwiches, cookies, fresh fruit, coffee or punch was served. . Singing opened the school after the third bell and the election of officers was held with Mrs. Walter Egley in charge. The new officers are president, Mrs. Walter Egley; Vice president, Mrs. Irvin Worthman; secretary, Mrs. Richard Gerber; and treasurer. Mrs. Charles Sheets. Other business taken care of at that time was the nomination of Mrs. Harry Beavers as the representative at the Fort Wayne Sal- ! em church September 22. Mrs. Wal- ! ter Hildebrand was chosen as her alternate. Mrs. Milton Hoffman I closed the meeting with prayer. Friday evening, the September meeting of the members of the Women’s Society of Christian Service was held at the Monroe Methodist church. The meeting was called to order by’the vice president, Mrs. Clifford Essex With the group singing “Send the Light.” Devotions with prayer were given by Mrs. Louis Hartman. Miss Sandra and Miss Rita Mattas sang two duet numbers accompanied by their mother, Mrs. Gorel Mattax, of the Spring Hill church society. During the business session, minutes were read by the secretary and the treasurer gave her reports. The Adams county group meeting was announced for Friday at the Decatur Methodist church at 9:15 o'clock. Miss Marguerite Deyo, speaker for the meeting, showed slides of her missionary post in Southern Rhodesia She plans to return to the field in December. Mrs. Hartman dismissed the meeting with prayer and refreshments were served by the hostesses the Mesdames Martin Steiner. Arlen Mitchel. Glen Custard. Goren Burkhead. Jr.. Martin Hoffman, John Gage, William Butcher, and Daisy Bahner. A formal installation of officers will be held by the members of the American Legion auxiliary Friday at 8 o'clock at the Legion home. The Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Salem Methodist church will meet with Mrs. Roy Frank Thursday at 1:30 o’clock. Members of the Monroe Better Homes demonstration club will meet Tuesday at 7:30 o’clock with Mrs. Wilbur Stanley. Members of the Knights of Columbus auxiliary will have a card party Wednesday at 8 o’clock at the K. of C. hall.. A number of pre-game parties have been planned for Friday afternoon and evening, preceding the first home football game of the season, and the honoring of coaches and former coaches Bob Worthman, Deane T. Dorwin, and Hugh J. Andrews, Psi Ote members will meet Tuesday at 8 o’clock. The officers will meet at 7:30 o’clock, with both meetings to be held at the Community Center.
