TO CELEBRATE 55TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY The 55th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Cary Johnson, of 208 North Chestnut street in Van Wert, Ohio, will be observed without a celebration, this Saturday. Married by the late Rev. E. G. Stover, the couple are the parents of three sons, Russel Johnson and Albert A. Johnson, both of Van Wert, and Lewis H. Johnson of Decatur. They have seven grandchildren and five great-grandchil-dren. Mrs. Johnson is the former Miss Mollie E. Miller, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Miner of Van Wert, Ohio. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, also of Ohio. V. F. W. LADIES AUXILIARY PURCHASES NEW EQUIPMENT The V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary wishes to thank everyone who helped in any way in their recent magazine drive. ' Announcement has been made that the following equipment has been received: wheel chair, hospital bed, bed side table, one pair of junior crutches, one pair of child’s crutches. Reports were made that some of the equipment was loaned out before it had been unpacked. Other equipment the V. F. W. has on hand includes two wheel chairs, three mattresses, one walker, two walkerettes, one sun lamp, one polio pack, a back rest, pair of bed rails. The post also has hospital beds. This equipment is available to anyone in the county and is kept at the post home on Third street. This evening, the members of the Gals and Pals Square Dance club will meet at the Youth Center at 8 o’clock. This being guest night, each member is invited to bring a guest. Monday at 6:30 o'clock, members of the Adams county Home Demonstration chorus will have a picnic supper and annual election of officers at Affolder park in Geneva. MISS EVELYN BEINEKE FETTED WITH SHOWER Upon the arrival of Miss Evelyn Beineke bride-elect of September 14 of Richard Prunuske the honored guest was presented with a corsage of white chysanthemums tied with a green ribbon. The shower was given at the home of Miss Dorene Beery and assisting her was Mrs. Walt Osterman. A color scheme of green and white was carried throughout the shower as the table was decorated in white with a green crepe paper unmbrella and wedding bells attached to the wall. Various games were played and the winners were Mrs. Clem Snell Mrs. Carl Thieme and Miss Jean Kolter and Miss Ruth Ann Berry who in turn presented their gifts to the honored guest. The people who participated in the shower were the Misses Linda Kruetzman, Lila Kruetzman, Winnie Mankey, Janet Shaffer, Ruth Ann Beery, Carol Egley, Nyla Girod, Linda Conrad, Carol Helmrich, Carla Snyder, Susan Beery, Kathryn Young, and the Mesdames Carl Thjeme, Clem Snell, Frank Bohnke, Elmer Beineke, H. E. Settlege, Harold Scherry, Cleo Landis, Russell Walchle, Rufus Scherry, Robert Beery, and Walter Conrad. Following the opening of Miss Beineke’s gifts, a luncheon of ham salad sandwiches, potato chops; cookies, and punch was served to the party. MRS. ROBERT MAINES HONORED AT SHOWER Mrs. Robert Maines was honored with a stork shower given for her recently by Mrs. Roger Christener, assisted by Mrs. Ed Ritter. Upon Mrs. Maines’ arrival, she was presented a baby rattle corsage. Games were played and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Opal Lillich, Mrs. Bernice Mailloux, and Mrs. Della Brodbeck, who in turn presented them to the honored guest. Refreshments were then served to the Mesdames Ida Fisher, Della Broddbeck, Fern Kendall, Bernice Maillaux, Marva Neadstine, Edna Everett, Opal Lillich, Katy Ritter and Dorothy Christener, Nancy and Jerry Christener, Ronnie, Deanne, Suzy and Donna Maines, Melody Kendall and Linda Brodbeck.
