MR, AND MRS. HOWARD SAHR of 68 S. Woodlawn Ave., Battle Creek, Michigan, announce the engagement of their daughter, Maryanne, to Dan William Krueckeberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Krueckeberg of Decatur. Miss Sahr is a 1956 graduate of Central high school and in the fall will be a junior student at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso. She is a member of Alpha Xi Epsilon sorority. Krueckeberg graduated from Decatur high school in 1956 and also will be a junior at Valparaiso University. He is a member es Theta Chi fraternity and is studying engineering law. An early spring wedding is planned by the couple.

MISS CAROLYN VACHON COMPLETES WEDDING PLANS Completed plans have been announced by Miss Carolyn Vachon for her September 6 wedding to Donald D. Schmitt. The couple will exchange vows at 10 o’clock in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, with the Rev. Simeon Schmitt, uncle of the bridegroomelect, officiating. Miss Vachon has asked her sister, Mrs. Thomas A. Miller, Decatur, to attend as matron of honor. Bridesmaids will be Mrs. John W. Zahm, Huntington, and the Misses Lizabeth Mille and Genevieve Vachon of New Haven. Hubert P. Schmitt, Jr. will serve his brother as best man and guests will be seated by Anthony J. Faurote, Charles Schannon, Edward P. Peck of Decatur, and the bride-elect’s brother, Robert L. Vachon, Jr. of New Haven. MISS KAREN MURTAUGH GIVEN BRIDAL SHOWER Recently a bridal shower was given in honor of Miss Karen Murtaugh, bride elect of Donald Junk of Ft. Wayne. Hostesses for the shower were Miss Eleanor Junk, Miss Delores Kintz and Miss Margie York. After being greeted by her guests, Miss Murtaugh opened her many gifts. Games were played followed by the serving of refreshments by her hostesses. Present for the occasioin were: Mrs. Pauline Murtaugh. Mrs. Cletus Junk, Mrs. Richard Deininger, Mrs. Walter H. Gilliom, Mrs. Larry Kelly, Miss Sheila Murtaugh, Miss Maureen Murtaugh, Miss Angela Jauregui, Miss Judy Bedsworth, Miss Patricia Litle, Miss Sharon Purk, Miss Marian Bashara, Miss Sue Holthouse, Miss Judy Parrish, Miss Rita Heimann. Those unable to attend but sending gifts were: Mrs. Vincent Faurote, Miss Alice Gage, Miss Anna Miller, Miss Mary Lou Voglewede and Miss Katherine Junk. CONVENTION OF W.C.T.U. IS HELD IN MONROE ! The annual convention of the Adams county Woman's Christian Temperance Union was held Tuesday beginning at 10 o’clock at the Monroe Farm Bureau building. Mrs. Dortha Shady presided for | the opening of the convention and devotions for the morning were ] given by Mrs. C. W. Wilson, who ' used the sveenteenth chapter of John as her scripture. Paul Ehrsam and Mrs. Myron ' Haggard presented musical selec-' tions and they were accompanied | by Mrs. Elmer Ehrsam. Mrs. John | R. Gage presented the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports after which a workshop was held with the ] following leaders, Mrs. C. W. WilI son, Mrs. Frank Bohnoke, Mrs. Floyd Stoneburner. Mrs? Irvin j ! Lockner, Mrs. John R. Gage, Mrs. ■ Ann Sprunger, and Mrs. Eli Lugin- , i bill. After the noon prayer was offered by Mrs. Ferd Mettler, a potluck dinner was served in the dining room. Mrs. Vernon Riley presented the afternoon devotions after the afternoon session was begun with , group singing. Following the devotion, the group sang “I’m A ' Child of The King." , Miss Janis Sprunger and Miss Anita Liechty accompanied by Miss Doris Liechty sang a special number. She spoke on the preventI ion of alcholism and told of her | two weeks stay in Washington, D. I VA pin was awarded to Mrs. Orval Lenhart of the Monroe Union club, for having the most members of her union present. Announcement was made of the fall convention to be held at Warsaw October 14-17. „ A candlelight service was held ! in memory of members who had passed away in the past year and a prayer was offered by Mrs. Eli Luginbill to close the meeting.

A SEPTEMBER WEDDING is planned by Miss Marilyn Wittung and her fianc'r Robert W. Rawley. Miss Wittung is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester E. Wittung of West Market Street, Rockford, Ohio and Rawley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Rawley of Decatur. A graduate with the class of 1956 of Rockford high school, Miss Wittung also was graduated from Frederick’s Beauty College in Lima, Ohio. Her fiance was graduated from Decatur high school and is employed by Central Soya in Decatur.
