Barbara Lewton Bride Sunday Os Richard L. Haynes Wearing a gown of taffeta and French imported chantilly laee. Miss Barbara Ann Lewton and Richard Lee Haynes were united in marriage in double ring rites performed by the Rev. Hazen F. Sparks at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the First Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Lewton of route 1, are the parents of- the bride, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Heber Haynes of route L Garrett. Forming the setting for the afternoon ceremony were altar vases of pink asters and white mums ard beauty vases of white gladioli and pink asters and candelabras. White bows were used to mark the pews. Nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Edgar Gerber, organist. and Richard Reidenbach who sang “Because,” “O Promise Me” and as the couple knelt at the altar, “The Lord’s Prayer.” Scalloped lace fashioned the front of the bodice with its sweetheart neckline and brief sleeves

were features of the bridal gown. The voluminous skirt was highlighted at the hipline by a band of lace which held the fullness that extended to a circular chapel length train. Given in marriage by her father. Miss Lewton carried a cascade arrangement of white mums and red sweetheart roses, and wore a pure silk French tulle veil which was caught to a matching half hat outlined in tiny seed pearls which formed rosettes on either side of her face. Maid of honor was Miss Mary Lou Lewton. sister of the bride, and she was attired in a ballerina length gown of seafoam agua taffeta which was styled with a bateau neckline which ended in a V neckline in the back and was fitted with brief sleeves. A white taffeta cummerbund encircled the waistline and ended in a butterfly bow at the back. She wore a matching aqua headpiece and carried a crescent cascade of white mums and pink asters. The bridesmaid. Miss Mary Haynes and Miss Kathy Lewton, junior bridesmaid, wore gowns identical to that of the maid of nonor. Little Miss Geraldine Lewton. sister of the bride, was flower girl in a floor length gown of seafoam aqua styled similar to the other attendants. She wore a matching headpiece and carried a white basket ot white mums and pink asters. The brother of the bridegroom, James Haynes, was best man and Richard C. Lewton. Dale Yarde, R. D. Baker, and Earl Yoder seated the guests Douglas Kent Lehman, the bride's nephew, served as ringbearer. A navy blue imported silk shantung dress with white accessories was worn by- Mrs. Lewton and the bridegroom’s mother chose an ice blue dacron dress and also wore white acessories. Both mothers had corsages of white mums and pink asters. A white linen cloth covered the reception table, which was topped with a four tier wedding cake decorated with pink and aqua roses. Candles arid tlie flowers of the
wedding party were also used as Vecorations. Hostesses included Mrs. Harold Owens, Mrs. Earl Yoder, Mrs. Paul Brown, Miss Junita Hoffman, Miss Kathleen Boerger and Miss Donna Owens. In charge of the gifts were the Misses Sally McCullough, Gloria Koeneman, and Arleda Sorgen. The new Mrs. Haynes changed to a black and white checked prin•Cess styled sheath dress with black patent accessories and the corsage from her bridal bouquet for an unannounced wedding, trip. Graduated from Monmouth high school, the bride has been employed. as deputy clerk of the Adams circuit court for the past two years The bridegroom was graduated from Garrett high school and is engaged in farming. UNION CHAPEL LADIES AID HOLDS MEETING An all day meeting of the members of the Union Chapel Ladies 1 Aid was held Thursday at their regular monthly meeting. Mrs. Gladys Koos, president, conducted the meeting and scripture was read by Mrs. Charles Burrell. Offering Prayer was Mrs. | Emmett Anderson. Following roll i call and payment of dues by 11 , members, Miss Elizabeth Cramer i gave the closing prayer. The remainder of the day was spent in quilting. I 1958 D.H.S. GRADS HOLD CLASS REUNION The 1958 graduating class of Decatur high school held a class reunion recently* at Pokagon state I park. A potluck dinner was served and following dinner, an en,joyable afternoon was spent on the beach. Janelee Smith, Barbary. Kalver and Norman Bassett were co-chairmen for the event. A pot luck dinner will be held by the members of the Zion Lutheran Needle club Thursday at 12 o’clock at Hanna-Nuttman park. Members are to being their own table service. Thursday at 1:30 o’clock, the members of the Mt. Pleasant Woman’s Society for Christian Service will hold a meeting at the home of Mrs. Fifer. The annual homecoming for the Salem Methodist Church will be held Sunday with a basket dinner at noon and a program in the afternoon.

ATTEND CONVENTION OF PARENT-TEACHER LEAGUE Mrs. Edgar Thieme, delegate, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Schamerloh, attended the sixth annual convention of the national Lutheran parent-teacher league at River Forest, 111,. August 3. 4. and 5. Premiere showing of the NLPTL sound film strip, “Let’s teach together.” climaxed the convention at the , closing session. The keynote address. “Growth unto the Stature of Christ.” opened the convention. with the Rev. Walter W. I Stuenkel, president of Concordia College. Milwaukee, Fis., speaker. Highlighting the educational sessions of the convention were an open form, “Partners in education;” a workshop dealing with the action of a parent-teacher league, and a symposium on scientitic, sociological, and political changes, in “Christian education for today and tomorrow.” Two social highlights were included for the convention: a fellowsip evening on the campus of Concordia Teachers College, and a banquet, an annual event, held in the college dining hall. Among the newly elected officers of the national association is Mrs. Alma M_. Kubiak. Indianapolis._ The parent-teacheher league of the Immanuel Lutheran school will bear about the convention at fa meeting, the third Thursday in September. Marjorie Lou Norr Married Saturday To “ Raymond L. Zurcher Saturday at 7 o’clock. Miss Marjorie Lou Norr became the bride of Raymond Lee Zurcher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Zurcher of route 1, Monroe, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Norr of rqute 2, Berne. Reading the double ring ceremony in the First Mennonite I church at Berne was the Rev. Howard Habegger, assisted by the Rev. Carl Greek. Nuptial selections were given by Mrs. Leland Neuen, organist, and Don Myers, soloist. Miss Norr was escorted to the altar, which was decorated with palms, candelabras, and baskets of white gladioli by her father. She . appeared in a deep lustred satin' gown which was fashioned with a fitted lace bodice and a scalloped sabrina neckline which was reembroidered with pearls and sequines. Laee motifs were appliqued on the bodice as well as on the skirt, which fell to a pleated flounce in the front and a chapel ’train in : the back. Her finger tip veil was held in place by a crown of lace and pleated tulle etched with pearls and sequins. She carried an ararngement of white carnations centered with an orchid. Driver's Licenses Suspended By State A man from Decatur, one from Monroeville., and three from Wells county, have had their drivers' licenses revoked during the period July—2o to 26 according to a list issued. by the bureau of motor vehicles. William J. Courtney, 326 N. Eighth street; Chester L. Hunter, Monroeville: Everett Everidge, Poneto, had their licenses revoked indefinitely due to accidents. Ronald Lee Souder and Roy Lee Sparks of Bluffton, had their licenses suspended after being charged with drunken driving. Courtney and Hunter had their licenses suspended July 5, Everidge July 10. Souder July 10 to Julv 10. 1959, Sparks July 14 to July 14, 1959. Sgt. John Walters On Television Sunday Sgt. John. Walters, now stationed in Lebanon with the U.S, Marines, appeared over television Sunday evening in a news program, shewing American troops in front-line foxholes. Sgt. Walters is a native of Decatur, the son of Mrs. Lula Walters of South Second street.

She wore a half hat of lighter blue and carried white carnations. , Miss Carol Norr was her sister’s only bridesmaid and she wore a gown identical to the ■ maid of honor. Merlin Zurcher served as best man and seating the guests were Harry Smith, Willie Fox, John Yoke, Paul Norr, and Ray Norr. Mrs. Norr wore a light blue lace dress, white accessories, and white carnations for her daughters wedding, and Mrs. Zurcher chose a dress of pink lace with white accessories and a corage of white carnations.

At a reception held fallowing the ceremony, the Misses Iva Zurcher, Evelyn Griffiths, Donna Mae Habegger, Shirley Kuhn, and Arlene Sommer served the guests and Mrs. Paul Tobias presided at the gift register.
