1 Two Minor Accidents Reported To Police Two minor property damage accidents were reported to the city police department Thursday afternoon. The accident reported at 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon occurred near the intersection of Monroe street and Second street. Involved were: Mary A. Knuess, 16, Decatur, and Dietrich H. Dierkes, 58, route three, Decatur. The car driven by Miss Knuess was stopped in the lane of traffic and the Dierkes vehicle struck the auto from the rear. Both cars were headed north on Second street at the time of the accident. The Knuess auto was damaged to the extent of SBS and the Dierkes vehicle was not danamed as a result of the accident. A car driven by Elizabeth W. Mulligan, 41, Decatur, struck a lamp post ts she attempted to back a vehicle off Rugg street onto Mercer avennue. Thursday at 5 p.m. Damage to the car was estimated at SSO. POSTAL (Contlnuea rrom Page one) need of relays and permit pared post delivery along with first class delivery. The postmaster quoted the slogan "‘Move today’s mail today,” and explained that in the Decatur office this was accomplished every day even during the heavy Christmas rush. Every piece of mail deposited at the Decatur office before it closes at 7 p. m. leaves Decatur that same evening. Mai! connections from here are excellent. Erie railroad dispatches each evening east and west. The afternoon and early morning highway post office truck handles south and north mail, and there are several star routes. Most incoming mail reaches the local office by 6:20 a. m. and is delivered that morning. According to Kirsch, the new rates will permit installation of more new equipment at terminal points which should speed mail delivery in the future.
