Falls Cause Most Farm Home Hurts Farm Safety Week Is On In Indiana LAFAYETTE—FaIIs cause most accidents in the farm home and rank just behind machinery and livestock as a cause of farm work accidents. On the fourth day of farm safety week, Wednesday, F. R. Willsey, Purdue University farm safety specialist, has asked rural residents to check themselves for these things which can prevent many falls: Are barn ladders and steps well built and kept in good repair?. Are ladder openings and stairways hand-railed? Are hay chute openings properly protected? . Is the larmyard kept clear of garden tools, forks, and rubbish?. Are house stairways clear of boxes, mops, brooms and tools? Are the stairways adequately lighted? Is a safe step ladder used for climbing instead of a chair?
