Farm Youth Exchange Families In Reunion Noblesville Scene Os Annual Reunion The third International farm youth exchange family reunion was held Sunday at the 4-H club grounds at Noblesville. Over 300 former IFYES and host families of the foreign exchanges met at noon for a potluck dinner. During the afternoon program, certificates were given to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moser and Mr. and Mrs. William Griffiths of Adams county, who were host families to Helidee Pinzon, from Panama, and Luis Demaria, from Argentina, duirng the past month. A special program commemorating the tenth anniversary was held with Bob Sprunger, chairman of the outbound Hoosier IFYES, in charge. Four IFYEs, from Latin America, who spent time in Adams and Wells counties during June presented special entertainment. Attending from Adams county were Mr. ano Mrs. wuuam ornfiths, Keith and Evelyn, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moser, Dwight, Ann, and Cynthia, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Koeneman and Gloria, Bob Sprunger, and Elden Holsapple, county 4-H club agent. GOLDFINE (Continued from fcage one) has his office been notified such a return was filed elsewhere. —Goldfine is no stranger to trouble with the federal tax collectors. From a highly authoritative source came word Goldfine •err previous occasions has paid the government large sums after his returns were challenged. He has done this as taxpayers are permitted to instead of carrying the cases into the U. S. Court of Tax Appeals. ADAMS (Continued from page one) safe tyider state regulations for county homes. The water supply, a, 100-foot-deep well, was considered good, but it, was recommended that the present well offset be provided with two or thre inches of concrete sloped to the boiler room to permit drainage of the well offset. There is no drainage provision at present. Cistern water should be disconnected from the food service area of the home, so that impure water would not be.used in cooking. It necessary, water softeners should be provided, he recommended, to furnish soft water for the food service area and bathing facilities. Cistern water should be used only for the laundry area. In all. 16 recommendations were made by Turpin, who stated in his introduction to the problem that “the superintendent has a great deal of responsibility for farm management and farm work in addition to the care and attention necessary with the patients at the home.” Concerning the menu, Miss Myers, the nutrition consultant, analyzed five days’ menus. She found that leafy, green and yellow vegetables were served only once in the five-day period, and that citrus fruits, tomatoes, or raw cabbage was 'served only once. Some of the meals contained a limited variety of foods and several were inadequate. She recommended that the menus be checked daily to insure including a minimum of one serv- ' ing of green, leafy and yellow vegetables fsuch as green beans, spinach, or carrots) each day. The same was recommended for citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruit, etc.) tomatoes, or raw cabbage The three former are sources of vitamin A, and the three latter are sources of vitamin C, both especially necessary for older people. She also recommended that the i food handling personnel be physically’ examined at the time of empoyment and anually afterward to prevent danger of infectious diseases, and discover conditions requiring madical treatment. Thosr recommendations shouldbe. folowed, she added, to meet the minimum standards as set forth in the “rules and regulations for county homes." The consultant n&rse found the home and personnel adequate to care for ambulatory patients only. Sick or bed patients are treated at the Adams county memorial hospital. She recommended that periodic visits be made by the physician, and that records of physical exams, cheSt x-rays and physician’s orders b‘o kept at the home' A medical cupboard which „eun fee looked should be placed where it is accessible to matron and anyone assisting in her absence. A record of all medications and treatments should be kept on the patient’s chart. She recommended approval for ambulatory patients, and moving of present bed patients only at the discretion of a physician, siiice it might disturb -them.
