SESSION IS HELD FRIDAY Friday evening Mrs. Paul Hlndenlang opened the monthly meeting of the Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Women’s Society of World Service in the church basement. The six members present sang hymns and heard scriptures read by Mrs. Roland Miller. The lesson was then given by Mrs. Chahner Nettle after which Mrs. Bernice Darr offered the prayer and gave a reading. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Darr and Mrs. Nettle to the members and their guest. EXCHANGE STUDENTS GUESTS OF C.Y.A. Luis Jose Demaria, of Argentina, and Miss Halldee Pinzon V?, of Panama, were the principal guests of the Catholic Young Adult members at their business meeting held Wednesday evening. The session, held at the St. Joseph school was opened by the president, Joe Costello, after which the Rev. Robert Jaeger led the group in prayer. Miss Isabelle Kinz, organization secretary, then read the minutes of the last meeting and the floor was take by Jerry Laurant, who presented tentative plans for the car wash the group is planning to conduct, Saturday, June 28. A brief report concerning the future deanery meetings was given Miss Pat Zehr, after which the president turned the meeting over to the guest from Argentina, who showed and explained to the group slides of his country. More slides were shown later by Miss Pinzon V. Her selection of slides concerned mostly the work being done by the 4-H groups rather than of the country itself. At the end of the entertaining session, coffee and doughnuts were served by Miss Kintz,, Miss Susie Holthouse, Joe Costello, and Jerry Laurant. Guests, other than those previously mentioned were Mrs. William Kohne, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kohne, and Mrs. Nolan Griffiths. A discussion group, members of the C.Y.A. interested in the background and theories of the Catholic church, will meet tonight at the home of Miss Zehr, at 7:30 o’clock. The enftire group will then meet next Wednesday at 8 o’clock in the church basement. At that time, final plans will be made for the car wash, and further plans for the work which will be done in Bluffton, will be discussed. DECATUR CLASS HOLDS REUNION Pokagon state park was - the scene of the third annual reunion of the Decatur class of 1956. The day was spent in swimming, sunbathing, and getting reaquainted with everyone. Miss Luanne Lehman and Phil Deßolt were in charge of the affair, which started at noon with everyone bringing sack lunches. Co-chairmen for the next reunion, which will be held in 1962, are Miss Judy Locke and Terry Murphy. Miss Legora Markle, chairman, announces that the group will have a film presentation on “Hospital Evacuation,’’ Tuesday at a session which will be held at the St. Joseph hospital’s nurses residence. 735 West Berry street. FLORAL DESIGN DECORATE ROOMS Floral decorations were used in the social rooms of the Evangelical and Reformed church when the Decatur Garden club members entertained the Berne club members Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Rice of Columbia City presented an informative program about colonial Williamsburg. Pictures were shown of restored building and formal gardens. Mrs. Rice, as narrator, gave a talk on the history of “Old Jamestown’’ and the 350th”anniversary of its settlement, held last year. Later a social hour was held and refreshments were served by Mrs. George MacLeau, Mrs. Rusell Acker and Mrs. Wesley Lehman. LARGE GROUP IS EXPECTED TO ATTEND Between 500 and 600 women are expected to enroll or attend the conference of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church of Northern Indiana. beginning Sunday and continuing through Friday at Lake Webster. Four courses will be offered for board of education credit from 9:30 to 11:30 a’clock each morning. Women attending will Mve the privilege of selecting one of the following four courses, “A study of Isaiah”, “The Middle East”, “Understanding Other Cultures”, and “Christian Concerns of North American Neighbors.” Tuesday afternoon two missionaries, Miss Sue Dunham of Muncie and Miss Joanne Diitro of Eaton, will speak. Each morning from 8 to 9 o’clock, the women of the school will hear a Bible lecture by Dr. Wyatt Aiken Smart, a professor at Emory University, Ga. Throughout the week a varied program of, mission films will be shown during class periods, in the afternoon following workshop, and during one or two evenihgs after lakeside services. Mrs. J. E. Thacker, Fort Wayne, is chairman of the school. GROUP TRAVELS TO TOLEDO, O. As a special feature of their 35th anniversary, the members of the Union township Home Demonstration club spent Wednesday in Toledo, Ohio. While there, they visited the zoo, went shopping and sight seeing and were shown different parts a large freighter, the “E. G. Grace.” Pictures were taken of the group to be shown on a local TV station that evening. Along with Mrs. Hugh Nidlinger, Mrs. Forrest Walters, and Mrs. Ivan Barkley, charter members taking the trip, were the following members and guests, Mrs. Rolland GJUom. Saturday the Junior Women de partment of the Decatur Woman's club will meet from 9 o’clock until 12 to finish cleaning the Youth and Community Center. The group, which is to meet at the center, is asked to bring rags and buckets. The Home Demonstration club of Union township will meet Wednesday at 1:30 o’clock at the home of Mrs, Rolland Gilliom. Mrs Tliurman Drew is to be the assisting hostess. Mrs. Gary Heckman and Mrs. Arnold Erxleben will be the hostescses at the Sunny Circle home demonstration club meeting which will be held Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at the Preble township community building.

CIRCUS THEME OF INITIATION “Under the Psi lota Xi big top” was the theme used to form the setting for the formal initiation of the new members of Alpha Delta chapter of Psi lota Xi. Gay ( balloons, stuffed animals, and , a large picture of a clown were ‘ the decorations used throughout the room. Red and white placemats and programs, a floral centerpiece of red and white carnations and red gladiolis arranged around a toy carousel and tiny china circus animal favors comnleted the table decorations. During the meal, familiar music of the merry-go-round was heard. With Mrs. Leo Kirsch as ringmistress, the show began. Mrs. Paul Moore gave an acceptance speech, Mrs. Jack Heller presented the welcome, and Mrs. Floyd Reed made several announcements, Miss Fan Hammell then gave a talk on the purpose and 'work of the sorority, and Mrs. Faye Holthouse led. the impressive candlelight service. In the first ring the installation of officers made Mrs. Paul Moore, president; Miss Jackie James, vice president; Miss Luanne Lehman, recording secretary; Mrs. Fred Isch, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Max Ellen Wagner, treasurer; Miss .Hazel Roberts, press reporter, and Mrs. Jack Heller, advisor. A special tribute was made to the honorary group of the sorority which had been formed just a few years ago. Many honoraries attending, included Mrs. Frank Rawley, president of the group and also a charter member who has been with the chapter since it was formed in 1922. Tho new members received yellow Johannhill rose buds, the sorority flower, and a compact with the sorority crest on it. All of this took place in the second ring. In the final ring of the three ring circus a style show was presented. The latest styles were shown as well as some of of yesterday. Between arts, Mrs. Harold Clinkenbeard gave a\ monologue called “Size, Please,’) and carrying out the circus ttieme. Guests were Mrs. Ray Davis of Richmond, Mrs. Paul Hancher of Fort Wayne, and Miss Judy Parrish, and Miss Carolyn Auman, wpo have been attending school. Co-chairmen for the event were Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Reed. Members of the Alpha Tau Sigma sorority will meet at the home of Mrs. Louis Smitley Tuesday evenin gat 8 o’clock. A dinner will be held Monday evening for the members of the Academy of Friendship. Reservations for the dinner are to be madeno later than Friday evening to Mrs. Mary Dixon. A meeting will be held at the Moose home between 6 o’clock and 6:30 Monday; evening. Eight o’clock is the scheduled time for the meeting of the Knights of Columbus auxiliary members. The group will meet at the K. of C. hall Tuesday. Jerry and Marilyn Spreen Augsburger of Muncie became the parents of a baby girl, Constance Lynn, born Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Augsburger of Geneva are the paternal grandparents. At the Adams county memorial hospital; A seven pound, 10 ounce son was born to Richard and Ruth Helen Schmidt Pyle, Fort Wayne, this morning at 1:30 o’clock. Today at 11:36 o’clock, Harry R. and Bernice Hanni Frauhiger of 234 North Fifth street, became the parents of a nine pound, five and one half ounce son. Sodus ten The St. Mary’s Sodbuster 4-H club met with the vice president, Dean long, in charge. After roll call was given by answering "the numbers of years I’ve completed in 4-H,” pledges were led by Patty Johnson. Talks and discussions were given by John Carroll. Gary Clouse, and David Bailey. Following the meeting refreshments were served. Berne Schools Hire Two New Teachers Two new teachers haVe joined the Berne-French school faculty, according to an announcement made by E. M. Webb, superintendent of the Berne-French school yesterday, Roderick K. Liechty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Liechty, Berne, is the new art teacher, replacing Mrs. Gladys Chrisman. Miss Ruby Alice Moser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer S. Moser, of French township, is the new sec-t ond grade teacher.

Closing Program Os Bible School Friday Program Friday At Calvary EUB Church The closing program of the community Bible school, with the Rev. Huber Bakner as leader, will be presented at 7:45 o’clock Friday evening at the Calvary Evangelical United Brethren church. An exhibit of handiwork completed during the school wfll be displayed in the church basement from 7 to 7:45 o’clock. The nursery class, taught by Mrs. Clara Hindenland and Mrs. Flo Kelley will present memory verses and choruses as its part of the program. Choruses and memory verses will be given by the beginners class, taught by Mrs. Dolly Sprunger and Miss Sharon Bebout. The primary class, taught by Mrs. Hazel Chronister, with Mrs. Norma Tumbleson and Judy Tinkham as assistants, will present singing and scripture verses. A play, entitled "Time Marches On,’’ will be presented by the Junior class, taught by Mrs. Shirley Schnepp, with Misses Myrtle Death and Linda Wagner as assistant teachers. The teen-age class, taught by Mrs. Ruth Edgell and Mrs. Betty Bakner, will present a program of a radio broadcast with a Bible quiz. The public is invited to attend.
