. MISS CHRISTENER FETED AT BRIDAL SHOWER Miss Marilyn Mae Christener was feted at a bridal shower held recently at the home of Miss Jane Grimm. 'MN* The honored guest is the June 15 bride-elect of*David Eugene Smith. Upon her arrival, Miss Christener was presented with a kitchen corsage made from a dish cloth, measuring spoons, a scouring pad, and drinking straws. As the guests entered the home, which was decorated with blue and white streamers, they signed a shower scrapbook for the honored guest, writing some advice for the bride-to-be in addition to their names. Games were played and prizes awarded to Mrs. Dan Ross, Mrs. Marvin Taylor, and Miss Pat Liechty, who in turn presented them to Miss Christener. After the games, the honored guest took her place at a table decorated with a blue and white table cloth and a miniature wedding party; blue and white streamers led from the table to a clothes basket, decorated in the motif colors and holding the shower gifts. Registering the gifts were Mrs. Phil Barger and Mrs. Dan Ross. Assisted by the Misses Cecilia Lehman, Jacie Snyder, Pat Liechty, and Doris Bluhm, the hostess served a light luncheon. JUNE 14 BRIDE-ELECT IS FETED AT SHOWER Miniature wedding bells and umbrellas carried out a green and white motif for a bridal shower given recently at the Decatur Youth and Community Center, honoring Miss Dorothy Mae Fast, bride-elect of June 14. Hostesses were Miss Barbara Lewton, of Decatur, and Miss Juanita Hoffman, of Richmond. Miss Fast will become the bride of Paul Glenn Brown, of near Decatur, June 14 in the Union Chapel Evangelical United Brethren church. When she arrived, the guest of honor was given a corsage of mint green daisies. After shower games were played, refreshments of cake, ice cream, nut roll and punch were served. Attending the shower to honor Miss Fast were Mrs. Lynn Shaw, New Haven; Mrs. Cleo Landis. Monroe; and from Decatur, tr.e Mesdames Florence Fast, Dale Brant, Carl Thieme, Roger Ripley, and Don Gallmeyer, and the Misses Carolyn Fast, Connie Fast, Donna Fast, and Janice Busick. Sending a gift but unable to attend was Mrs. Marvin Brown. PSI IOTA XI PLEDGES NINE TUESDAY EVENING Pledge services were held Tuesday evening at the Youth and Community Center for nine new pledges of Psi lota Xi sorority. New members, now pledges, will be the Mesdames Ned Knape, Tom Busick, and William Freeby, and the Misses Susie Holthouse, Janice Titus, Kenny Peck, Kathy Cole, Judy Smith and Barbara Brunnegraff. * Mrs. Raymond Harrison, of Berne, presented a chalk talk. Accompanied by her niece, at the piano, Mrs. Harrison drew a garden scene. The picture was finished, she turned on colored light, whiph slowly changed from color to Jtolor; when a purple hue appeared, it revealed a picture of Christ with the words of the pledge written on the picture with flourescent chalk—“a very inspirational thought to end the pledge service,” said one member. For refreshments afterwards, the serving table was decorated with gold and turquoise flowers and candles. The nine pledges will be formal ly initiated at the next meeting. Tuesday, June 17. AUXILIARY’S OFFICERS ARE INSTALLED In the formal officer installation ceremonies of the Eagles’ auxiliary which were held recently. Mrs. Ethel Teeple became the new. madam president and Mrs. Dwight Whitacre junior past president. Serving with the new executive will be Mrs. Richard Baker, madam vice president; Mrs. Edward Igney, chaplain; Mrs. Wesley Morris? secretary; Mrs. Arthur Irwin, treasurer; Mrs. Evelyn Spangler, outside guard; Miss Mary Weber, inside guard; Mrs> .George Myers, conductress; and the Mesdames Jack Beavo, August Fritz and Ray Kramer, trustees. It was announced that the auxiliary would hold a rummage sale Saturday in the Gerber building on South Second street, and that the Mesdames Wesley Morris and George Myers would leave soon to attend the 10th F.O.E. Indiana state auxiliary convention at Evansville. Mrs. Morris will serve on the audit committee for the convention. The auxiliary’s next slated meet- ! ing is set for June 24,

DELTA THETA TAU MEETS AT DEBOLT HOME Delta Theta Tau sorority met at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Deßolt Tuesday evening. President Mrs. Leo Teeple conducted the business meeting. Mrs. Teeple was elected delegate to the national Dita Theta Tau convention to be held at Cincinnati, 0., in July. Mrs. Kenneth Arnold was elected alternate. It was decided to have “Omicron Chapter, Delta Theta Tau Sorority” imprinted on the plaque to be, placed on the door of the room which the sorority furnished for the new addition of the Adams county memorial hospital. Plans will be announced later for the next meeting. On the calendar fortune 25, it will be a picnic; the committee is now working on the ararfigements. Games were played and prizes won by Mrs. Leland Smith and Miss Mary C. Spangler. Refreshment were served by the hostess, Mrs. Deßolt. ■ * PICNIC CLOSES YEAR WEDNESDAY FOR BPW Decatur’s Business and Professional Women’s club held its last meeting of the year in the form of a picnic Wednesday night at Han-na-Nuttman park. During a brief business meeting, committee chairmanshoips for 1959-1958 were revealed. A chicken dinner was served family style to the 15 members present by the new club officers, hostesses for this last meeting. Committee heads named were Miss? Joan Wemhoff, finance; Mrs. Evelyn Kingsley, international relations; Mrs. Orville Hicks, career advancement; Mrs. Norman Guard, legislation; Miss Matilda Sellemeyer, health and safety; Mrs. Hubert Feasel, public affairs; Miss Barbara Bowman, national security, and Mrs. Cletus Miller, membership. White elephant bingo provided entertainment during the social hour, which closed with the serving of a dessert. ROSE GARDEN CLUB MEETS TUESDAY Members of the Rose Garden club gathered at the. home of Mrs. Floyd Arnold for their regular meeting Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Meldren Kreps gave the lesson; describing care and plating of roses, she showed diagrams and pictures on trimming and setting rose bushes. Rbll call was answered* as each member named a favorite rose. On the business agenda for the next meeting will be a discussion of the club’s possible affiliation with the state garden clubs. Members will consider this and will «vote on the issue at the July meeting. Mrs. Frank Crist was auctioneer for a sale of miscellaneous articles and baked goods. The hostess was assisted as she served refreshments b ythe Mesdames Calvin Amick and Floyd Arnold. Members of the Decatur Garden club are to entertain the members of the Berne Garden club Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church, at Third and Jackson streets. Final plans will be made for the trip to Detroit the 25th and 26th of June at the Monday evening meeting of the Jolly Housewives home demonstration club of St. Mary's township. Members are to take note of the change of date. The group will meet the evening of the 16th at 7:30 o’clock at the Bobo school. The Wesleyan Service guild of the First Methodist church will hold their annual picnic in the shelter house at the Hanna-Nutt-mah park at 6:30 o’clock Tuesday. The hostesses, »Mrs. Walter J.
