Feed Wheat Program Deadline Extended ■ June 6 Deadline Set For Program Adams county farmers now have a longer period of time 'in which to file applications to take part in the feed wheat program, Victor Bleeke, chairman, county agricultural stabilization and conservation committee, announced today. The new final date in the county for filing, such, an application for the 1958 wheat crop is June 6, 1958. The chairman explains that a change in program regulations provides the new final date for filing the feed wheat program applications. Previously the final date for filing such an application for spring-planted wheat was ■planting time on the farm. For winter wheat the application deadline was last fall. Under the feed wheat program, farmers whose wheat acreage allotment is less than 30 acres may grow up to 30 acres of wheat for use only on the farm where produced without being liable for marketing quota penalties. Not more than 30 acres of wheat may be grown on the farm, and none of the wheat may be sold, bartered, or exchanged, nor is it eligible for, price support. No acreage planted to wheat in excess of the farm acreage allotment for a crop covered by a feed wheat exemption will be considered in determining any future wheat acreage allotment or marketing quota for the farm. Producers must keep adequate records of the disposition of the

The report on disposition of the 1958 wheat crop must be filed with the county ASC office not later than September 1, 1959. Chairman Bleeke emphasizes that the feed wheat exemption is not automatic. Growers must file feed wheat program applications before the deadline and the applications must be approved by the county ASC committee in order to be eligible to take part in the 'feed wheat exemption provisions . Private sources said 8,000 to - 11,000 troops attacked last Sunday d along an 80-mile front between 1 Manzanillo and Santiago. They reported fierce fighting and said casualties have bden heavy on both sides. ' A victorious advance by the e army would drive the rebels to d Oriente Province’s south coast. Naval patrols along the coast have been reinforced to block r. rebel attempts to escape by sea, - the sources said. The rebel radio, back on the air after nearly two months' silence, said Monday that insurgent leader Fidel Castrb has “nearly 5,000 men” holed up in the mountains—about 2Vi times the figure estimated by observers in Havana.
