PARLIAMENT (Continued from Page one) Guy Mollet, one of four ministers of state in the new DeGaulle cabinet, told the Assembly Sunday night that De Gaulle wants to fly to Algeria “in the very next few days’’ with a number of his ministers “to reestablish order there." Latest reports from North Africa indicated there were good reasons for De Gaulle’s hurry. The French army Sunday night clamped a virtual martial law regime on Algeria, giving the army under Gen. Raoul Salap — French commander-in-chief there —- complete power over the civil administration. 1710 decree signed by Salan was issued after indications that the more extremist French settlers in Algeria were deeply disappointed by De ,Gaulle’s programs speech and cabinet list. TENS (Continued from Page one) United States, the. Most. Rev. Amleto Cicognani, and will be participated in by hundreds of prominent churchmen. Including the three surviving American cardinals. About 200 bishops and archbishops were to arrive from throughout the country, the Bahamas, Africa, Puerto Rica, Alaska and Canada. Before Stritch’s death, he had been elevated by Pope Pius XII to the highest position ever held by an American in the church heirachy—a member of the Roman Curia. Upon arrival in Italy, he required amputation of an arm and later died of a stroke.
NEWSPAPER (Continued from Pageone) witn the Couries Post. The Daily News signed a contract with the Teamsters early ths year. The principal issue with the teamsters according to the Inquirer and the Bulletin was a “picket line” clause which they said could result in the papers being shut down in a dispute involving matters other than those included in the contract, The Teamsters want a $lO wage boost and a reduction of the work week from 40 to 37*£ hours. The papers said they will give a $8.50 weekly wage boost, three weeks vacation after three years employment and other contract improvements. During earlier negotiations, the Inquirer offered the Guild increases of $2 to $5 but the Guild said it wanted a wage boost of about 8 per cent based on a cost of living increase. The talks eventually collapsed. ’ BOSTON (IP) — New England’s oldtime stagecoaches rarely could make more than eight miles per hour. Yet ancient records reveal that a popular nicknarpe for a stagecoach a century and a half ago was “Flying Machine."
