Plan Conservation Education Camp 13th Annual Camp Will Open June 16 With the approaching close of school, many Indiana teachers are looking forward to attending the 13th annual conservation education camp to be held at Versailles state park, June 16-July 26. Prof. Howard H. Michaud, camp director, points put that teachers who have not completed plans for the summer may still enroll. The new lake at the park will offer teachers an unusual opportunity for recreation and study of conservation. A number of scholarships are still available to help defry the cost of attending the camp. These are made possible through organizations interested in promoting conservation education in Indiana schools. Teachers may enroll for either or both sessions at the camp. The first course is from June 16-July 5, and the second from July 7-26. The college credits earned may be applied toward a degree or toward renewal of certain teacher licenses. The camp is sponsored jointly by Purdue University, the state department of public instruction and the Indiana department of conservation. Outstanding specialists in conservation will provide instruction in soils, water, forestry, wildlife and recreational resources. Visits will be made tb local farms, industries and other places of interest to conservationists. Total cost of the camp courses, including fees, meals, lodging and instruction is $62.50 for three weeks, or $125 for six weeks. Further information on scholarships and how to apply for them may be obtained from Michaud, Department of Forestry and Conservation, Purdue University, Lafayette. Maine Sardines AUGUSTA, Me. — (IF) — The State Department of Agriculture said 2,117,151 cases of Maine sardines were packed in 1957. The total was about five per cent less than the number of cases produced by the industry in 1956, and well below the 1950-56 average of 2,485,000 cases.
