George N. Craig. Matthews protested an election where the opposing faction won. Observers said the Handley-Jen-ner group tried hard to stop the ; reelection of Delaware County • Chairman Paul George who heads , a committee which has criticized , the governor. Will Contest Election Matthews claimed George illegally appointed two vice precinct committeemen and said the Handley faction would contest the election. Dorris Fleetwood was reelected chairman in Brown County, where there was a successful Republican revolt against Handley "purges” from state jobs of party workers who opposed him. Evansville Mayor Vance Hartkc strengthened his bid for the Democratic senate nomination. He was unanimously relected Vanderburgh County chairmanMonroe County Democratic Chairman Charles East was accused of refusing to allow 24 committeemen to vote at Bloomington, where he was reelected. A disagreement over authority to elect a chairman led to two rival Democratic meetings i n Franklin County, creating a snarl which must be untangled.

Urge Farmers Dispose Os Excess Wheat Farmers raising more than 15 acres of wheat or more than their farm allotment, whichever is larger, should dispose of the excess by May 15 to avoid a penalty under the wheat marketing quota regulations, Victor Bleeke, ASC chairman, reminded farmers today.
