Virginia L. Gerke Married Sunday To Robert J. Mclntosh Miss Virginia L. Gerke became the bride of Robert J. Mclntosh at a double ring ceremony Sunday evening at 6:30 o'clock at St. Peter's Lutheran church near De- i catur. The Rev. Fred W. Droegemueller performed the ceremony | before an altar grace with candelabras holding pink candles and white flowers with green ribbon; beauty vases of pink gladiolas and marked the pews. The aisle was covered with the traditional white pink candles and green ribbon also I carpet. Theodore C. Grotrian, organist, and Karl Reinkir.g. vocalist. presented a 15-minute musicale prior to the ceremony. j Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Gerke of route 3.and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Mclntosh of Monroeville. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor lento gown chantilly lace and nylon tulle over satin. Her sculptured bodice was fashioned with a V neckline and short sleeves and lace appliques were embroidered on the gown with pearls and iridescent sequins. The voluminous skirt, which swept to a circular chapel train, was highlighted by a front and back panel of lace, A coronet of sequins and pearls hed her fingertip veil of imported illusion and shb carried a lavender orchid ~with% stephanotis vine. ; y Attending .the bribes, as honor attendant was Mrs. Eugene Bruick, who appeared in a gown of mile green nylon organza over taffeta with a wide white collar embroidered in a rose pattern. The full gathered skiyt was waltz length. A half hat of matching petals with a rhinestone studded circular veil complemented her gown. They wore similar ensembles in pink lilac and carried cascade arrangements of deep pink roses with green netting. Paul Mclntosh served his brother as best man and Donald Gerke, j the bride’s brother, and Karl Mon- ■ nier, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, seated the gugjsts. Approximately 450 guests attended the reception which was held at the Hayloft, Hoagland. Assisting with the serving of the guests were the Misses Alice Kukelhan, Kathleen Boerger. Janice Busick, Dolores Moser, Evelyn Getting, Donna Coilcho and Mrs. Les ; lie Putman and Karl Monnier. These opening gifts were Miss Marcella Thieme. Miss Violet Sheets and Miss Regina Dornseif. For traveling the bride, wore a navy pima cotton silk jacket dress with navy and white accessories and the orchid corsage from her bridal bouquet. Mrs. Jptosh, a graduate of Monmonuto. high schoto, is employed at the Lincoln National Life Insurance company. Her husband was graduated from Monroeville high school and International Business College. He is presently employed as an accountant with Professional Management. in Fort Wayne. ATTENDANTS IN BLUE GOWNS PRECEDE BRIDE Attendants attired in ballet blue silk taffeta gown preceded Miss Marilyn Alice Week to the altar of the St. Thomas Lutheran church, Ohio City, 0., where she and Lloyd J. Kiess exchanged nuptial vows. Before an altar decorated with tall beauty vases of snow princess white gladiolis, sky blue carnations with jade foliage, and seven pranch floor candlebra, the Rev. Karl Hoffman, uncle of the bride ,and the Rev. Hans Wiedenmann, performed the double ring ceremony Saturday evening at 6:30 o’clock. Mr. and Mrs. Lester F. Week, Ohio City, are the parents of the bride and the bridegroom in the son of ‘Mr. and Mrs Lloyd Kiess, route 1, Decatur. A musicale ineluding such selections as "To the Evening Star,” "Clarie de Lune,” and “Liebestraum,” was given prior to and periodically during the ceremony by Mrs. Helen Clark, organist, and Roger Cobb, vocalist - Given in marriage by her father, Miss Week chose a gown of chantilly lace and nylon tulle over white satin. Her fitted bodice of lace was fashioned with a scoop neckline, outlined with pearls and sequins and tong sleeves which ended in tapering points over her hands. The huge skirt of tulle was highlighted with a wide border of lace and was swefy into a chapel train in the back. The bride’s fingertip veil of illusion was caught in a matching crown and she wore small button earrings. To complete her attire, she carried a shower cascade of stephanotis with green ivy, centered with a white orchid. Appearing in ballet blue gowns. Miss Dorothy Week, sister of the bride; Mrs. Robert Lane, sister of the bridegroom: Miss Pauline Hofmann,' and Miss Martha Ann Week, sister of the bride, attended Miss Week as honor attendant, bridesmaids and junior bridesmaid. Dressed indentidaliy, their gowns featured a torso bodice, a V peckline and brief sleeves with unpressed pleats which fashioned the waltz skirt. Each wore white wrist gloves, pearl earrings, gifts of the bride, and a headdress which matched the gowns. The attedants all carried an all blue modern French line arrangement of sky blue carnations and blue pompons, edged in blue maline and camUlia leagues with matching satin ribbon. . Acting as the best man for the wedding was Don Selking, friend of the bridegroom, and Robert Lane and John Merkle seated the guests. Mrs. Robert Stemen, Mrs. Karl Wermer, Mrs. James Clark and Mrs. John Schwartz served the guests at a reception held later in the evening at the Sunset park. Following the reception, the bride changed into an aqua coat and an aqua, blue and green shad>ed*Sh(baQi drdss for' an unahhounbed honeymoon. ' A graduate of Van Wert, Ohio high school, Mrs. Kiess has been employed as a secretary at the National Seal, Van Wert, Ohio, while her husband, who was graduated from the Monmouth high school, is engaged in farming. The couple will reside on route 1, Decatur. MRS. EDWIN C. BAUMAN WINS DRIVING CONTEST Mrs. Edwin C. Bauman of the Good Neighbors home demonstration club of Monroe township won the driving contest, Saturday, Mrs. Bauman, who competed against 40 other contestants, made six mistakes, given her a total of 32 demerits. She will represent Adams county in the district contest Friday, May 16, at the coliseum in, Fort Wayne. Mrs. Wilbert Thieme of the Merry Matrons club of Union township placed second in the contest with 41 demerits. Mrs. Clarence Dick of the Profit and Pleasure club placed third with 42 demerits. Mrs. Amos Schrock of Merrier Monday’s and Mrs. Rlaph Mankey of Preble Sunny Circle tied for fifth place with 46 demerits. The contest, held at Adams Central, consisted of five exercises: driving a straight lene forward and backward, making a smooth stop with the front bumper over a line, the serpentine, parallel parking, and a written test. Judges for the event were Charles Fox, soil conservation service; Merlin Sieling, president of the Decatur Lions club and Warren Kneuss. Cars were furnished by Zintsmaster Motors, Saylors, Balsiger Motor, and Schwartz Ford, company. • r 1 Mrs. John Holthouse will entertain the members of the city council of the Beta Sigma Phi Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock at her home. The new delegates are urged to attend the meeting. It has been announced by the reporter of the Business and Professional Women’s club of Decatur, that the meeting will be postponed One week. Originally scheduled for Wednesday the meeting will now be held May 14. Further information will appear in the paper at a later date.

MISS JUDY MELCHI FETED WITH SHOWER A miscellaneous bridal shower was held recently- in honor of Miss Judy Melchi, the June 1 bride-elect of Harry H. Hebbto, Jr. Upon arrival, Miss Melchi was presented with a corsage of yellow jonquils. The shower was held at the home of Miss Cheryl Ashbaucher, hostess for the evening, who was as-sisted-by Miss Linda Norris. Several gifts were cleverly hidden throughout the room and were located by the guest-of-honor by the use of alarm clock. Games were played throughout the evening, after which Miss Melchi opened her remaining gifts. Refreshments were served from a table decorated with a center piece of spring flowers flanked with lighted candles. Those attending were the Mesdames Russell Melchi, Al Beavers, Chalmer Deßolt, Charles Cook, Harry Hebble, Sr., Robert Ashbaucher, Lili Bor roughs, Cecil Melchi; and the Misses Pasty Cook. Ann Uhrdick, Janice Vos hell, anS Carolyn Frauhiger. Those unable to attend but sending gifts were Miss Carolyn Drake, Miss Karen Jefferies and Mrs. William 'Baumann. RECENT MEETING HELD AT THE WITTWER HOME Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Wittwer at a recent meeting of the Work and Win class of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church were the Rev. and Mrs. J. O. Penrod. Mrs. Emma Barkley, president, in charge of the meeting held Saturday at the Wittwer home, opened the session with a song after which Mrs. Fannie Hitchock read from the scripture. . A prayer was then offered by Mrs. Hubert Gilpen and roll was taken. It was announced at this time that the new officers would be Mrs. Homer Arnold, president; Mrs. Emma Barkley, vice president; Mrs. Flossie Hower, secretary and treasurer; Mrs. Francille Harvey, assisting secretary and treasurer; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown, in charge of the music; Mrs. Nellie Frummen and Mrs. Clarence Drake, flower committeemen. j. At titoj end of the session, refreshments were served by the hosts. MR. AND MRS. SHADY ENTERTAIN CLASS Mr. and Mrs. Dortha Shady were host to the members of the Wesley Sunday school class of the First Methodist church Thursday evening at their country home. The meeting was opened by the members singing several hymns, accompanied by Mrs. Lowell Smith at the piano and Mrs. Shady at the organ. Devotions were then given by Mrs. Maynard who spoke on “Couldn’t pack it up” and Mrs. Clyde Harris, -whos'e topic was “Today'isours." Mrs. Shady collected funds for “care” and the devotions were closed by all of the members repeating the Lord's Prayer in unison. The class president, Mrs. J. M. Doan, presided over the business meeting, at which time the secretary’s report was read and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Messick were introduced as new members of the class. After the business meeting, the committee took over and had a social hour. One of the games played was won by Mrs. Lowell Smith and Harold Messick. Following the social period, refreshments were served by the committee consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Shady, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Hetrick, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Harris and Mrs. Nilah Neil. HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUBS MARK WEEK All phases of homemaking and community life are included in Adams county home demonstration club program, highlighted this in toe observance of national home demonstration week. The goal of this nationwide organization is to strengthen home and family life by helping women become better homemakers and more responsible and efficient citizens. The Adams county women sponsored two new projects this year, which were the better driving contest and furnishing a room in the hospital addition. The which began last year at Purdue homemaking conference is being held this year -in many counties throughout the state. Adams county held its contest Saturday ft Adams Central. Mrs. Edwin C. Bauman of the Good Neighbors club M Monroe township won the contest and she will now represent the county in the district Contest at the coliseum in Fort Wayne Friday, May 16. The Adams county home demonstration Slubs are under the direction of the county extension service and Purdue University. Lessons presented in the clubs this year were mental health of adults, eating is fun, simple company meals, oven meals, window treatment, and pattern alteration*. Schools held under the extension service for the home demonstration women were on basic sewing and first aid for the sick and injured.

Robert Contant, Miss Rowena Merriman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Merriman, and James Joseph Voglewede, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Voglewede, exchanged nuptial vows. Attending the couple were Miss Rosalie Voglewede, sister of the bride-gioom, aad Gerald Voglewede, brother of the bridegroom. Seating the guests before the ceremony were Donald Voglewede and John Voglewede, also brothers of the bride-groom. Following their unannounced wedding trip, the couple will reside at 646 North 12th street.

Members of the American Legion auxiliary will hold a regular business meeting at the Ler gion home Friday evening at 8 o’clock. At the meeting, nomination of officers will be held. Tuesday evening at 7:45 o’clock, the members of the Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority will meet at the Youth and Community Center for their regular business meeting. All members are urged to be present. Boy Is Suffocated By Corn Saturday ROCHESTER (W — Bruce Rentschler, 11, Fulton, suffocated beneath a pile of shelled corn Saturday when he slipped and fell into a corn crib while a conveyor was moving the grain from one bin to another on the farm of his grandmother, Mrs. Mattie Rentschler. The boy was buried 20 minutes. Artificial respiration failed to revive him.
