Driver Training Car Catches Fire Monday The Decatur high school driver’s training car caught fire at 2:45 p.m. Monday at 227 South Fourth street when the float in the carbuetor stuck. When the ignition was turned on, the cars motor back-fir-ed and the gas flowning from the carbuetpr caught fire from the heat of the motor. The fire was out when the Decatur fire department Arrived because of the alertness of two peo- , [ pie. Steve Everhart, student driver instructor, and a neighbor. Bill Merriman, extinguished the fire with the use of Everhart’s hat a small home fire extinguisher Merriman brought from his home. Dirt was also thrown on the motor. Very little damage was done. Report Gov. Faubus Will Appeal Ruling I Federal Injunction Is Upheld By Court LITTLE ROCK, Ark <UP> — Gov. Orval E. Faubus was reported prepared today to carry to the j U.S. Supreme Court his appeal j against a federal Injunction forI bidding National Guardsmen to i black integration of Central High ' School. Fajpbus was expected to confer shortly with his attorney to map future plans in the wage of Monday’s ruling by a U.S. Court of i Appeals upholding the injunction issued last fall by Federal Judge Ronald N. Davies. Faubus’ attorney, Thomas Harper,. the governor had said he would carry, the case further, "sol assume he will.” 'Faubus, however, said he would have to confer with Harper before deciding whether to appeal ito the Supreme Court. The Appeals Court in St. Louis, lin addition to upholding Davies’ I issuance of the injunction, reject!ed two other appeals stemming j from the Little Rock integration j dispute One. by Mrs. Clyde Y. Thomajson, secretary of the segregation? t ist Mothers’ League of Central \ High, sought to prevent school auj thorities from enrolling the nine . Army troops were ordered to the school by President - Eisenhower last Sept. 24 to preserve order. Attorneys for both women indigested that further appeals were, [planned.

Girl Hurl Slightly By Dash Into Auto Darts Across Street Into Auto's, Fender » • Vivian Liechty. 3. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rolandes Liechty of route 2. Berne, narrowly escaped serious injury Monday afternoon when she ran into the side of a moving car. The Liechty family had parked on the west side of Second street near the Madison street acrossing The mother started across the street while the father put coins in the parking meter. The little girl stood by her father, then noticed her mother had left, and darted out in the street to get to her. , She ran into the side of a car and trailer being driven by Ernest P. Atkinson, 36. of route 2. T%e little girl was rushed immediately to the hospital emergency room, but when it was found that she suffered only cuts and bruises on the left side of her face and a bump on her forehead, she was taken to a doctor's office.
