Ui . . - ■- ———— An attractive, well-kept city will promote itself in many ways. Why not clean up your yard, paint the house, and make some improvements. If you have spare time, don’t mope about it. Use your time constructively in making Decatur a better city to live “• h o o The American flag is our symbol of love for and belief in the American way. Every home should have one, and fly it proudly on our national holidays. If you have one in your attic, why don’t you clean it up and get ready for Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day in May? Fly the flag proudly in honor of all your ancestors who have fought to protect it. o o— The state fire marshal has again visited Decatur, and more suo - standard properties have been visited and condemned. Thirty years ago the city board of health made annual inspection tours of the city, and gave out warnings to people whose homes were neighborhood health hazards. This practice was discontinued during the war years, and some Decatur residences have been sadly neglected. Present action will help remedy a long-standing blight on our city's record.

If you are sick, and unable to get to the polls a week from next Tuesday, call your county chairman. He will be glad to see that you get an absentee voter's ballot. o o— — The first operation to be per- 1 formed in the major surgery room in the new addition to the i Adams county memorial hospital was performed Wednesday afternoon. A major and minor surgery | room, with a recovery room under the care of a nurse, are among the many fine features in ■the new addition. With surgery moved from the old location, work can now progress on the second and third floors to connect them with the old hospital building. # 1 o o Berne will be the host city for 1 the April meeting of the Adams county historical society. Next Tuesday evening at 8 p.m., a program of local history and accomplishments in which we can all take pride will be presented by the Berne members of the society. A good knowledge of local history instilled in every boy and girl in the county through his parents, teachers, arid ministers will insure that pride of past accomplishments necessary for the healthy growth of the community.
