■ Jacfc Tobias Named Detective Sergeant Jack R. Tobias, 32, of near Fort Wayne, has replaced Truman Bierie of Wells county as detective sergeant operating in Adams, Allen and Wells counties, it was learned here today. Tobias is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell W. Tobias, of Warren. He will serve with Det. Sgt. Jack Nye of Huntington. Tobias has served seven years with the state police, the entire time in the Fort Wayne area. He has just completed the state police detective school, and a refresher Course on fingerprints taught by FBI agents. Alvina Amstutz Dies Last Night , Funeral Services Sunday Afternoon Mrs. Mvina Amstutz, 62, of Wabash township, died at 8:45 O’clock Thursday night at the Adims county memorial hospital. She had been ill with carcinoma for six months and hospitalized for the past nine days. She was born in Adams county March 30, 1896, a daughter of Frederick and Barbara ZurcherHanni. Her husband, Christian j. Amstutz, preceded her in death. Mrs. Amstutz was a member of the First Missionary church at Berne. Surviving are three sons, Gilbert Franks of Geneva and Clarence ind Weldon Amstutz, both (at home; two grandchildren; six brothei s, Homer and Leo Hanni

One victim was mistaken for a bear, another for a deer. Three more died from wounds inflicted from shots by hunting companions. while a stray bullet resulted in the death of one.
