— ALT-UECHTY REPEAT VOWS The Rev. Gordon Neuenschwander performed the ceremony at the Saturday evening wedding of Miss Berdella Mae Alt and Ernest Ray Liechty in the First Mennonite parsonage in Berne. Parents of the couple are Mr,, and Mrs. Orval Alt and Amos A. Liechty, all of Berne. The bride wore a gown of chantilly lace and tulle over taffeta. Her sculptured lace bodice was. styled with' a scalloped Sabrina neckline and long tapering sleeves. She wore a contour coronet crown of pearls and sequins to hold her fingertip veil of imported illusion in place, and carried a bouquet of white carnation and lily of the valley. Miss Lavera Alt, acting as her sister's only attendant, selected a gown of pink taffeta with a molded bodice, a vee neckline and small cap sleeves. Unpressed pleats fashioned the waltz length skirt On her head she wore a dainty pleated pink half hat and she carried pink carnations. Loren Moser acted as best man for the bridegroom. . Following an unannounced wedding trip, the.couple plan to reside at route 1, Berne. ~ CELINA COUPLE TO CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. David Schaadt, of near Celina, 0., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner for the immediate family Sunday at the Sehaadt home, who re they have spent their entire married life. Their family is composed of four children: Henry, of Berne; Victor. Akron. Ohio; Glen, Willshire; and Mrs. Robert Lime, Celina, Ohio, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Due to Mrs. Schaadt’s health, open house will not be observed. FAREWELL DINNER FOR JACK MOSER A family dinner was held Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vilas Moser, route 3, for their son, - Jack, who left Sunday for military service. Present at the dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. Lester Moser and their daughters; Robert -and Betty Moser, all of Lima, Ohioj Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Raudenbush and, Terry Moser, of Decatur. LOSERS FETE BEST SELLERS When members of the Delta Theta Tau sorority met Tuesdayevening at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Arnold, the team selling the fewest tickets to the spring fashion show entertained the winning team. After a buffet supper, Mrs. Leo Teeple presided over a brief business session. During the session Mrs. H. R. Frey was appointed chairman of .the nominating committee and Mrs. James Newton and Mrs. Arnold were appointed to assist her. Movies were then shown by Dr. and Mrs. H. R. Frey, which were taken on their trips to Mexico and Caribbean Isles. At the end of the evening, Mrs. Melvin Weisman was awarded the door prize. MISS CONNIE MARBAUGH ENGAGED TO WED IN APRIL An April 19 wedding in the Methodist church in Willshire, 0., is, being planned by Miss Connie Marbaugh and Charles Wolfe. The Rev. Claude Dayton will perform the ceremony at 6:30 o’clock that Saturday evening. Miss Marbaugh is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Marbaugh of Willshire, and her fiance is* the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Wolfe of Monroe.... — A graduate of Willshire high school, the bride-elect is employed by the Decatur Industries. Wolfe was graudated from the Pleasant Mills high school and is now employed by the Central Soya. „ — i. SONG OF MONTH OPENS MEETING The song of the month, "When You Wore a Tulip,” was sung as the opening for the recent meeting of the Gals and Pals Home Demonstration club meeting, held at the Pleasant Mills school. At the beginning of the meeting, conducted by the president, Mrs. Gordon Suman, Mrs. Richard Young read "What is Easter?" Following roll call and the secretary and treasurer's reports, a lesson entitled "Planning for the ' Day.” was presented by Mrs. Lowell Noll, and Mrs. Bill Work-] inger presented another on polio, I While giving her talk. Mrs. Workinger stressed the fact that everyone should get her polio shots now. Two citizenship lessons were then discussed by the leader, Mrs. I Zelma Bittner, on the rights and duties of citizens and executive powers of the president and vice president. Prior to a birthday anniversary auction and several games of bingo, Mrs. Jack Bebout, a visitor, was introduced to the club members. Refreshments were served at the end of the evening by the hostesses of the month, Mrs. Far) Gyer and Mrs. Richard Peterson. JUNIOR WOMEN HAD DINNER PARTY Monday evening, the Junior Women division of the Decatur Woman's club, met at the home of Miss Sunya Stuckey and left in cars to travel to Bud and Bob s where the group had dinner reservations. Following a five-coupe dinner, a few business matters were j brought up by the president, Mrs Floyd Reed. A committee was appointed to chaperone the dance Friday night which will be sponsored by, the teen council at the Youth and Community Center. The dance is to be held after the junior play from 9:30 until 11:30 o'clock. Appointed to serve on the committee are the Misses Karen Hardy, Luanne Lehman, Jackie James, Jeannine Schultz and Linda Pollock. ■- ~ , It was announced that the Indiana Federation of clubs will hold the annual convention at Purdue University, May 13, 14 and 15. It was then discussed and the suggestion was made that as many as possible should try to attend. It was brought to the attention of the group that Wednesday, May 14, will be the junior day at the : convention. Miss Carolyn Sue King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. King, was recently graduated from the professional accounting school of International College with a BSC degree. Miss King was graduat--1 ed from Pleasant Mills high school with the class of 1956. Her extra curricular activities were centered in music. PLAN BETTER DRIVING CONTEST NEXT MONTH The home demonstration women of Adams county are holding a better driving contest on May 3. The purpose of the contest is to promote safety consciousness throughout the County. Each home demonstration club in the i county will send at least two con- . testants. I Planning committee members i met Monday in county extension I office. Those helping on the com- ! mittee are Mrs. Warren Kneuss, ! Mrs, Stoller, Mrs. Melvin Mcßarnes, and Merle Affolder, Adams county sheriff. The contest will consist of four I obstacles. Exercise 1, a straight' line, consists of driving the left wheels of the car on a straight path between two rows of marker balls. Exercise 2 consists of bringing the car to a smooth stop directly over the stop line. The third exercise, or serpentine, consists of driving the car around and between barrel markers. The fourth exercise is parallel parking. The winner of the Adams county contest will represent the couni ty in the district contest May 16. W. C. T. U. PLANS SPRING INSTITUTE x The Adams County Woman’s Christian Temperance Union will hold their spring institute in the Antioch United Missionary church Friday. "Highways to Abstinence” will be the theme for the sessions which will be held in the morning and evening, with the afternoon session beginning at 2:30 o'clock. A detailed program for the institute is as follows; devotions will be handled by the Berne Union; special music and drama, Kirkland Union; the officers panel is to be entitled, "The highway blue print"; symposium, “Laws governing our highways"; address "Guiding sign posts on the abstinence highway” by the Rev. C. W. Wilson; and “Broadcasting facts through printed materials,” by Mrs. Anna Sprunger. A pot luck supper will be served at 6 o'clock and a note lias been made that those attending are asked to bring their own table service and a covered dish. Following the supper, the evening season will begin at 7:30 o’clock. ' Participating in the evening session will be the Rev. John Mishler, Arland and Carlton Reinhard, the Pleasant Dale juniors, Mrs. Vernon Riley, and Judge Myles Parrish. At the end of the evening, a Women’s Christian Temperance Union pin will be awarded to the I president of the Union having the largest representation.

DRAMATIC DEPARTMENT HELD FINAL MEETING - Members of the Dramatic de partment of the Decatur Woman's club met at the Fairway for a dinner party which was to end their meetings for the year. Mrs. Herman Krueckeberg, chairman for the past two years, was presented with a gift and later invitations to become members of the department were accepted by Mrs. James Allen, Mrs. Denzil Dowell, Mrs. John Hefner and Mrs. John Brecht. In charge, of the arrangements for the evening, were Mrs. Fred Soldner and Mrs. Robert Holthouse. Thet Adams county demonstration chorus will have their regular rehearsal Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock at th,e Farm Bureau building in Monroe. Mrs. George Hamma is to entertain the Loyal Daughters class members of the Bethany gelical United Brethren church at their regular class meeting to be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the Hamma home. Tuesday afternoon, the Decatur Garden club members are to meet at the home of Mrs. Amos Ketchum. The set time for the meeting is 2 o’clock. A dinner will be furnished at the Monday evening meeting of the Civic department of the Decatur Woman’s club. Members are to meet at the home of Mrs. R. K. McConnell at 6 o'clock and are asked to bring their own table service. I.U. Music Clinic To Be Held In July High School Pupils Invited To Cline High school musicians from Adams county are invited to the 13th annual music clinic July 5-13 at Indiana University. The clinic will be for 500 musicians in band, orchestra and voice who have completed the ninth grade. Clinic enrollment will be limited according to instrumentation needs of the bands and orchestra and voice requirements of the choral group. Membership in each ensemble will be selected before May 28. Fifteen dollar clinic scholarships are available to the first 75 string players enrolling. Dr. Maurice F. Shadley, co-ordinator of public music services at the is in charge of the clinic. Paul W. Schneider, music department director. Lane Technical high school, Chicago, will conduct the I.U. music clinic, orchestra, and Ronald D. Gregory, director of the university’s band department, the clinic band. Sectional rehearsals will be under the direction of outstanding high school music teachers, who also will act as clinic counselors. Sunday afternoon, July 13, at 2 o’clock there will be a joint concert by the clinic bapds, chorus and orchestra in the I.U. auditorium. While on the campus, clinic students and teachers will be housed in the men’s quadrangle. Miss Judy Locke Sorority Officer Miss Judy Locke, a Decatur student attending Ball State Teachers College, Muncie, was recently elected the 1958 corresponding secretary of Alpha Omicron Pi social sorority at the college. Judy, a freshman, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Locke, 217 Limberlost trail. She is attending Ball State on a scholarship. No Enlistments In Six Months Program No enlistments are now being accepted under the six months program for young men between 18% and 22% years of age in Battery B, the Adams county active r-e- --. serve unit, Capt. Henry S. .Com mager, commander, said today. At the present time there is a slight i possibility that youths in that age group may enlist, If they are willing to go on active duty in May. They should contact Commager immediately, as a letter will be sent to headquarters to see if this is possible. More than 30 young men have inquired in the past few weeks, Commager said. Youths in the 17 to 18% age group may still enlist in the program, which includes six months active duty and 7% years in the reserves, instead of two years active duty, and six years in the active reserves. No break is expected in the enlistments the remainder of this year, Commager added.

i SATURDAY, MR. AND MRS. JOSEPH D. SCHWARTZ of Berne, r celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Delayed because of the Easter holidays, they will hold an open house at their farm home one mile west and three and one-half miles north of Berne, where they have lived since 1911, from 2-5 o’clock Sunday after- '• noon. Easter Sunday they were honored at a dinner by their family and relatives. I Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz have one daughter, Mrs. Amos Steury t of Bluffton, and three grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. William Call have returned from Cottage Grove, Ore., where they spent the past three months with Mrs., Cole’s brother, Harty E. Stump. Enroute home they stopped at Cody, Wyo., to visit their daughter, Mrs. Newton and her family. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmitt, of Columbia City, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schmitz of Decatur attended the funeral of Clem Metzgar of Shelby, Ohio. Mrs. Elmer Urich was admitted to the Parkview memorial hospital, Fort Wayne, Sunday. Her room number is 239.
