1 PRESIDENT GIVES REPORT TO OPEN RECENT MEETING Entertained at the home of Mrs. Ben McCullough, the meeting of the Pleasant Mills Baptist Women’s Missionary society was opened with ai report on the first chapter of Romans and a prayer led by the president, Mrs. James Halberstadt, Sr. The secretary and treasurer’s reports were then giving by Miss SaHy McCullough, and f Mrs. Ralph Longenberger gave a report on the love gift. Results of the election of officers are as follows: the president will be Mrs. Lowell Noll; first vice president, Mrs. McCullough; vice president of missions, Mrs. Harry Ray; secretary and treasurer, Miss McCullough; vice president of Christian service, Mrs. Ralph Lingenberger; vice president of Christian training, Mrs. Richard Young; and publicity chairman, Mrs. Paul McCullough. SPRINKLING CAN CENTER PIECE FOR BRIDAL SHOWER Blue and white streamers, cenf tered by a large sprinkling can which was placed over a large lin- • en covered gift table, were the major decorations used at the bridal shower given in honor of Miss Marilyn Luginbill, recently at the home of Mrs. Eugene Luginbill of ; Willshire, Ohio. The guest of honor and her fiance, Gary Simons, are planning to marry Easter Sunday. Games, under the direction of ■ the hostesses, Mrs. James Sirk and Mrs. Don Walters, both of Fort Wayne; tyfrs. Eugene Luginbill, and Mrs. Clarence Hamrick, were played prior to the serving of refreshments by the hostesses. At the end of the evening Miss Luginbill opened her gifts. Attending the shower were the Mesdames Kenneth Marckel, Ronald Townsend, James Seyler, Vilas Luginbill, Robert Luginbill, Noble Reynold, Thomas Agler. Robert Brouwer, Ronnie Gephart, Dale Caffee. Raymond Mertz; and the Misses Sharon Kreischer, Donna Fast, Ann Foor, Dori, and Phyllis Braun, Connie Brewster, Karen Grandliniard, and Susan and Lana Bailer. Sending gifts but unable to attend were: Mrs. Nila Neil, Mrs. Carl Gattshall, Miss Staffer, Miss Norma Noll, Mrs. Gene Mischaud, Miss Ann Rene Walters, Mrs. HerMan Fox, Mrs Thomas Kunneke, Mrs. Larry Cartwright,,Miss Rose Marie Vondran, Miss Phyllis Umbarger. Miss Berdella Alt, Miss Sandia Strickler, Mrs. Gene Noll, and Miss-Crystalrßlocker. JONES AND JOHNSON ASSISTING HOSTESSES Assisting Mrs. Robert Johnson at the Tuesday evening meeting of the Root Township Home Demonstration club, were Mrs. Loren Jones and Mrs. Charles Johnson. The president, Mrs. Archie Susdorf conducted the business session of the meeting, which began with the club collect being said m unison. Mrs. Charles Johnson then gave the devotions and Mrs. Stella Speigel and Mrs. Lee Fleming presented the lesson on skillet suppers and meat balls creole. Taking her turn, Mrs. Doris Harkless talked to the group on a subject concerning safety. Refreshments were served at 1 the close of the meeting to the twenty-two members and a sin- . file guest present. j Mrs. Otto Spiegel was announced the winner of the door prize. j Throughout the meeting, ithe : traveling trophy which was won by the club, for being the top home j demonstration club in the county for 1957, was on display.

MRS. WORTHMAN TELLS OF VERMONT QUARRIES In the line of current events for the Wednesday afternoon session of the Historical club, Mrs. Lydia Worthman told parts of the history of the granite quarries of Barre, Vt., the world’s largest quarry. Presiding over the meeting in the absence of the president, Mrs. Roy Price, the vice president, Mrs. Hersel Nash, had the members answer roll call with the use of quotations. During the business meeting, plans were made for the closing meeting tentatively set for April 9. The group has decided to have a noon luncheon at the Zion Reformed church. Mrs. James Borders will make the reservations for : the affair. At the close of the meeting, Mrs. Wesley served refreshments to her guests. Recognition was given to the group's guest for the evening, Mrs. Dallas Goldner. 19 ATTEND STUDY CLUB Seventeen members and two guests attended the monthly meeting of the Church Mother’s study club at the home of Mrs. Ray Lehman. Easter devotions were given by Mrs. Art Beeler, after which Mrs. Myles Parrish, president, conducted a short business meeting. During the meeting, it was decided to bake cookies and together with the sponsored Brownie troop deliver them in the form of Easter baskets to the county home. A nominating committee composed of Mrs. Ed Summers, Mrs. Winston Rawley and Mrs. Delmar Van Horn was appointed to get the slate of officers for the coming year. ....... . Mrs. Rawley presented the Barents lesson entitled “Responsibility” and Mrs. Erman Johnson gave the Christian home lesson. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Lehman,- Mrs. Richard Garner and Mrs. Lowell Noll. MRS. SHARP SPEAKS OF HER TRAVELS President of the Rebekah assembly, Mrs. Treva Sharp, talked to the members of the Olive Rebekah lodge 86 Tuesday evening, about her trips about the state. At the friendship night and regular lodge meeting held at the I. O. O. F. hall, Mrs. Sharp explained how she travels about visiting the different lodges. Following her • speech, Mrs. Neola Johnson, district deputy president of district '• 31, gave the instructions and the i lodge was closed. A playlet was then presented by Mrs.- Orval —Reed, Mrs. Frank Liechty, Mrs. Harvy Baker and Miss Laura Stanley. Following a piano selection by Mrs. George i Myers, and a reading by Mrs. Herb Lopshire, a lunch was served by the committee. The progressive prize was won by Mrs. Therman Howe, of Geneva, and the attendance and door prize by other out of town women. Visiting lodges for the evening included Bluffton. Geneva, Hartford City, Liberty Center, Petroleum, Montpelier, Monroeville, New Haven and Zanesville. Such a nice way j to say Vx/'. .. SORORITY HAS BUSINESS MEETING Members of the Xi Alpha lota Exemplar chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority met Wednesday evening for their regular business meeting which was conducted by their president, Mrs. Robert Babcock. Reports were given by various committees and plans were discussed for a square dance to be held sometime in April. Officers for the coming year are: president, Mrs. Francis Faurote; vice president, Mrs. Charles O'Shhughnessey; treasurer, Mrs. Vernon Krugh; secretary, Mrs. Gerald Martin; city council representative, Mrs. Bill Mann; alternate, Mrs. Elene Bender: and historian, Mrs. Robert Babcock. Following the adjournment of the meeting, the Exemplar group was joined by Epsilon Sigma chapter for a social hour. At this time Mrs. Don Harmon demonstrated, with several facials, the Cort cosmetics. Door prizes were won by Mrs. William Schulte, Mrs. Gerald Martin and Mrs. Leo Seltenright and cookies and coffee ended the evening. LOCAL CHAPTER PLANS INSTALLATION CEREMONIES Decatur chapter 127, Order of Eastern Star, will conduct public installation ceremonies at 7:30 o’clock Saturday evening at the Masonic hall. Mrs. Ralph Snyder, past matron of Geneva chapter 263, 0.E.5., will be the installing officer. Assisting her will be Mrs. Harry Essex, installing marshal; Mrs. Elmo Stuckey, installing chaplain; Mrs. Harry Railey, organist; and Mi-s. Walter Kirck, soloist. Those to be placed into office are Mrs. Clarence Snyder, worthy matron; Frank E. Bohnke, worthy patron; Mrs. R. L. Collins, associate matron; R. L.
