D. 65, to the eerier writing of Paul about A.D. 50. Geographically, they cover a wide range of territory, from Jesus preaching in the country of the Gadarenes, to Paul writing from Corinth to the church in Thessalonica. All the passages have to do with the needs for and the methods of Christian evangelism. t V. 18. "And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him." As Jesus was getting into the ship, the man who had been possessed of demons, whom Christ had cured. was so grateful for the deliv-' erar.ce that he wanted to go with Jesus and serve him. fident with Jesus who had restored him to normalcy. V. 19. "Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.’’ Jesus knew that this man would make the greatest contribution to the cause of furthering Christianity by being a witness in his community, merely by telling of how Christ had changed his life. If we can show in our lives the change that Christianity makes in us, it is more valuable than any amount of taking about it. V. 20. "And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done • for him: and all did marvel.” Decapolis was the tend of ten cities located southeast of the Sea of Galiseemed to be a prevalence of men possessed of demons in this area. The demoniac's testimony was his tribute to Christ as his deliverer. The change in him not only made men marvel, but opened the d<x>r of faith to others who needed Christ in their lives. V. 1. "After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would-COine.” It was commonly believed at the time this passage was written that there were seventy nations in the world and the choice of the number of seventy men could have symbolized the extension of the Christian, message into all the world. "After these things" refers to Christ's' final withdrawal from Galilee. Christ had previously sent out the disciples two by two and did the same with the seventy, to encourage and support each other,
