Indiana Loses To Ohio State Monday Night CHICAGO (UP)-The Big Ten basketball race appeared today to be settling into dull routine. The same team—Michigan State—has held the lead for three days. The Spartans not only defended the first place post they seized Saturday afternoon, they achieved another rarity in Big Ten cage play Monday night by winning on the road. The victim was archrival Michigan and the score was 79-69. The victory was the seventh in 10 conference games for the Spartans and their second on a .foreign court- It leaves them with four games to play, two on friendly soil and two on the road. Ohio to Third Ohio State, winning its first league game on an enemy floor, gave itself a boost from fourth to third place in addition to. giving the Spartans a helping hand. The Buckeyes held the Big Ten’s scoring ace, Archie Dees, to 19 points in tagging Indiana, 93-83. The defeat shattered the Hoosiers’ chance to at least remain only a half-game off the pace in second place. Instead they slumped to fourth place and went 1% games behind the leader. Heading into the next round of play Saturday night, the first division was composed of Michigan State (7-3), Purdue (6-4), Ohio State <7-5) and Indiana and lowa at 5-4 apiece. The Hawkeyes won their fifth -opference tilt Monday night, a 74-61 success over Wisconsin. In a battle of conference non-entities, Illinois trimmed Minnesota, 94-87. Individual Sharpshooters The Spartans’ individual standout was junior forward Bob Anderegg, who .connected on 25-foot jump shots with almost magical accuracy and wound up with 25 points for the game. Anderegg was able to break free time and again while Michi-1 gan was busy trying to defense! the Spartan jumping jack. Johnny Green. Green bagged 18 points I anyway. Other heroes in Monday night’s: play were George Kline of Min-! nesota who turned in the evening’s | high of 27 points; Clarence Word- 1 law of lowa who netted 26 and -Jim- Laughlin who bagged an identical total in Ohio State’s victory. Saturday night’s action will take the contenders into the home (stretch and put Michigan State in

a choice spot to increase its lead The Spartans entertain lowly Wisconsin. In other games, Indiana is at Ohio State fob a quick return
