Closing Service At Zion Church Tonight Crusade Concludes At Lutheran Church The final service in the crusade for Christ evangelism effort, which is being conducted by Zion Lutheran church, will begin at 8 o'clock tonight. The Rev. Walter H. Moeller, guest missioner. will conclude his sermon series with the topic. “Beware of Indifference." The Rev. Edgar P. Schmidt, host pastor, will lead the singing and conduct the question and answer period.

Another capacity crowd attended the fourth service last night-jjnd | heard Rev. Moeller discuss’ “Free Men in Christ,’’ based on Galatjans chapter 5, verse 1. The speaker paid tribute to Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday was celebrated yesterday, and said he was best remembered as the Great Emancipator. He pointed out that Christ emancipated people from their sins and gained for them freedom from sins’ guilt, eternal punishment and power of Satan, hell and eternal death. Following the regular service tonight, guests who wish to remain are invited to see slides of Rev. Moeller's recent trip, to the Holy Land and Near East taken on a Lutheran Jaymen’s league tour, for which he had Served as chaplain. Speaking to a short report meeting for the lay visitor teams after the service, the guest missioner briefly discussed the four C's of evangelism, They were listed as contacts, cultivation, conversion, and conservation. Former Berne School Head Taken By Death Word has been received in Berne of the recent death of Eber W. Jeffery, 62, at Silver Spring, Md., after a long illness. Mr. Jeffery was superintendent of the Berne schools 1925 until 1929. He was su- ; per vising director of history for district schools at Silver Spring from 1950 until his retirement last October. Freight Increase ' Granted Railroads Major Railroads To j Hike Rates Saturday WASHINGTON <UP> — The na'lion's major railroads -will raise i freight rates on certain commodij ties an average of 2 per cent starting \ Saturday. The Interstate Commerce Comjmission authorized the increase : Wednesday. j The carriers -also were author- > ized to raise by 5 per cent their charges for stopping freight trains .for local freight handling or in- ’ dustrial switching. But the com- ) mission rejected all proposed hikes above the 5 per cent level. Also rejected were all proposed ■ new changes for loading and unloading freight at the ports of ' New York and Philadelphia. Proposed increases of up to 10 per cent for loading and unloading freight at other points were approved but the commission set i aside indefinitely’ all hikes above that level. Dr. Wayne Paulen Is Guest Speaker Woman's Club Will Meet Monday Night —- ' Hr i Dp. Wayne Paulen is to be the guest speaker for. the Woman's club general meeting which will be held Monday at the Youth and Community Center. His topic for the evening will be “My 28 Days in Russia." Dr. Paulen is superintendent of the Warsaw district of the Methodist church. A member of the Kiwanis club, Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, Dr. Paulen has been active in this community and church and in the past, has spoken widely among youth groups, churches and various civic groups. In 1956 he w’as one of 23 professional Americans who toured behind the iron curtain, spending 28 days in the U.S.S.R and lesser time in Poland, Czechoslovakia and East Germany. His tour constitutes his speech to the Woman's club. The Civic department will be the acting hostesses for the evening, under the supervision of Mrs. Lowell Smith. Assisting Mrs. Smith will be Mrs. Myles Parrish. Mrs. Ray Stingely and Mrs. Francis Ellsworth. ■ Members are reminded to bring guests.
