GRACE LIECHTY ENGAGED TO WED Mr. and Mrs. Cliffton Liechty of Berne have announced the engagement of their daughter w Grace Marie, to Loren D. Moser, son of Mr .and Mrs; Marcus Moser of route 1, Berne. Employed by the Dreibelbiss Abstract of Tile Co., Fort Wayne, Miss Liechty is a graduate of Berne-French high school and attended Goshen college. Her fiance is a graduate of Adams Central high scfiijol and DeVry Technical Institute, Chicago, and is at present, employed by Calvin Nussbaum construction, Berne. No date has been set for the weeding. MID-WINTER CONFERENCE HELD AT THE MOOSE HOME The Moose home was the location of the mid-winter conference that was held Sunday afternoon, lodge rooms, where each introducthe conference leader who then opened the meeting. Sixteen collegians, wearing caps and gowns, were escorted to the lodge rooms, where each introdlced herself, and then back to their seats of honor. Mrs. Evelyn Kingsley sang a solo, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. George Myers. initiation of candidates was held by the Marion chapter, after which a social hour was held. Mrs. Catherine Stalter was the winner of the door prize. MISS BEERY ELECTED PRESIDENT OF GUILD Election was held recently by the Magley Salem girl’s guild with the fellowing girls being installed into office: Miss Dome Beery, vice president; Miss Linda Kruetzpresident; Miss Carolyn Hoffman, man, secretary; Miss Janet Schaffer, treasurer. Miss Carla Snyder was named card sender, and Miss Lila Kruetzman, pianist, assisted by Miss Beery. Counsellors for the group are Mrs. Ralph Mankey and Mrs. Mary Schafer. Winnie Mankey, with Miss Hoffman acting as group leader. Following a prayer the lesson was then presented by Mis Hoffman with the Rev. E. H. Settlage completing the lesson. A hymn and the Lord’s Prayer closed this section of the meeting. A business session was then held, after which refreshments were served by the hostesses. Members of the St. Ann’s discussion group will meet Friday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the home /.of Mrs. Adrian Girard. The Women of the Moose will meet Thursday evening at the local Moose home for a short business meeting. The meeting, which will begin at 8 o'clock, will be followed by a birthday party for all co-workers who are celebrating their birthdays in January. Officers are asked to be at the lodge a half hour early. A ladybug hunt will be held at the V.F.W. home tonight at 8 o'clock. Thursday beginning at 9 a.m., the Zion Lutheran Needle club will hold an all day meeting and pot luck dinner at the parish hall. All members and friends of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church are invited to a fellow? ship supper to be held Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. A carry-in-meal, the meat, rolls and drink will be furnished by the church school. After the supper a talent program will be presented by the parties present. Mrs. Lawrence Rash will entertain the Friendship circle of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church at her home Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock. Hostess for the Friday evening meeting of Our Lady of Victory discussion club will be Mrs. Herman J. JESSE LAUTZENHEISER of 609 Cleveland street . will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary, Sunday, February 9. in the fellowship hall at the parsonage of the Church of God. The afternoon reception will be held from 2 to 5 o'clock. The couple have not sent out formal invitations but an invitation has been extended to their friends and neighbors. The Lautzenheisers were married February 9, 1908 in their furnished country home near Van Wert, Ohio. The Rev. Samuel Cummings was the officiating minister. They chose farming as their occupation for 45 years. The couple then retired and moved to Decatur, November 15, 1952. They have two sons, Verl of route 6, Decatur, and Chester of Glendora, Calif. Teen Council Plans Benefit Show Feb. 4-6 The teen council of the Decatur Youth and Community Center is, sponsoring a big benefit show at the Adams Theater Feb. 4-6. Money from the show will go to the center. Tickets are 50 cents each and are available from stu--dents at Decatur high school and Decatur Catholic high school. They may be obtained by contacting any class president. Samuel J. Shetler Is Taken By Death Services will be conducted at 9 a. m. Wednesday for Samuel J. Shetler. 23, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob L. Shetler. Shetler died at 11 a. m. Sunday at the home of his parents, two miles south of Monroe. A native of Mt. Hope, 0., he had lived in Adams county for the past 11 years. He had been ill since last July with carcinoma. Survivors in addition to the parents are the widow, the former Lovina Hilty; two sons, Den--Iny and-William, at: home: eight • brothers, Daniel Shetler, of Hartzelson, la.; Levi Shetler, near Monroe; Eli Shetler of Fredericksburg, O.; Henry and Jacob Shetler. Jr., route one, Berne; and Valentine,, Andy and Mose, at home; and three sisters, Mrs. Joe Hiltyt, Jr., near Monroe; Mrs. Alvin Hilty. route one; Berne; and Anna, at home. Friends may call at the home of the parents after 6:30 p. rr). today. Burial will be in the Schwartz cemetery, near Berne. The Rev. Harry Speakman, above, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard R. Speakman, Decatur route 6, was among 59 persons commissioned as missionaries of the Methodist church in recent ceremonies at Buck Hill Falls, Pa. Rev. and Mrs. Speakman, who have two children, will go to the Balgian Congo for evangelistic work. Rev. Speakman graduated from Pleasant Mills high school and Asbury College. Rites Held Sunday For Bowen Infant Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the Marquart funeral home, Monroeville, by the Rev. Joe Bear, pastor of the Grace E.U.B. church of Monroeville, for Rickie Dean Bowen, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bowen, Os ■route 2, Monroeville. The baby died at the Adams county memorial hospital shortly after birth late Friday night. Survivors in addition to the parents are two brothers, Rex and ! Ross-. three sisters.
