For the first time since .4 1950,. the Com-g modores cam through to win» the county tour-w ( ney. They did so at the expense of the Hartford Gorillas, 59 to 38. Coach Lindahl and the boys are to be congratulated on a job well done. -D.C.H.S.Not to be forgotten i* the cheering section which was a colorful ful addition to the tourney. Their constant chatter kept up the boys spirit and their determination to win. —D.C.H.S.— It wouldn’t be a tourney without concessions. The juniors performed the task of selling through the crowd. Several senior girls took care of the main concession stand. Agreeing that it was lots of fun and little work, they want to thank Father Jaeger and all others in charge who kept the operations running smoothly. —D.C.H.S.-After-the-game ceremonies included the awarding of a beautiful trophy to the Commodores by county school superintendent Gail, Grabili. Following this was the cutting down of the nets. Besides these two prized possessions, the Commodores also have the Limberlost Bell, which they gained by beating Berne. —D.C.H.S.A ride on a city fire truck provided the first source of celebration for the jubilant Commodores fans. Several parties were also held to honor the team. Monday morning a caravan of cars gathered in the school yard to proceed to the other county schools. A bonfire Monday evening at HannaNuttman park concluded the twoday celebration. —D.C.H.S.— Last Thursday morning, the senior boys went to DHS to attend an orientation program presented by the armed forces. Representatives from each branch were present at the assembly. —D.CJi.S.— The second in a series of square j dances was held last Sunday duelling in the school auditorium. Calls for the dances were on records provided by Mr. and Mrs. Max Kreps. A thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all present. —D.C.H.S.— A very important date not to forget! Sunday is SSC Sunday at ! the 8:30 mass. —D.C.H.S.— The Commodores swing hack on the hardwood trail tomorrow night, meeting the Clear Creek team from Huntington county on the Decatur floor. —D.C.H.S.— Preparations are being made for the homecoming dance following the Marion Bennett game, January 31. The Keynoters will furnish the music for the evening. ■ Tickets are available from any senior class member. —D.C.H.S.— The sodality meeting for the month of January will be held Friday morning. The sophomores will present a program on the persecuted church in modern times. _£>.C.H.S.— Plenty of freshly baked goods will be available at the bake sale sponsored by the junior class Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m. it will be held at the Western Auto store. —D.C.H.S.— Sixteen bookkeepers are gaining practical experience in the line of bookkeeping as they have .begun work on a practice set for the Hunter Wholesale Grocery. —D.C.H.S.— Mary Frances Beckmeyer won the Betty Crocker award as the best homemaker of tomorrow at DCHS. The award was the result of outstanding achievement in the home economics field. She received a gold pin showing a heart and sheaf of wheat. This makes her eligible for the state Homemaker'of Tomorrow contest. (By Carolyn Heimann) —D.C.H.S.— DCHS began the second semester in earnest on Tuesday. Reports were handed out, which enabled the students to see what they had done wrong the first semester and where they could improve in this new semester. —D.t.H.S — The Rev. Robert Jaeger, atfiletic director, Coach Al Lindahl, and the basketball team are deeply appreciative of the loyalty and spirit of the, adult fans. Their cheering and support was an inspiration to the team and athletic officials. — —D.C.H.S.— U. S. Department of Agriculture studies show that the age of a non-vaccinated cow does not affect her susceptibility to brucellosis
