Report Forrest Durr Slightly Improved Forrest Durr, of route 8, is reported slightly improved after becoming very ill at home Thursday . night. His son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Longenberger, also of route six, were called from the Adams Central gym during the tournament Thursday night. Mr. Durr recently had ' a check up lit the Dumbling clinic in Fort Wayne, for a heart condition and complications. Truman W. Bierie Quits State Police Detective sergant Truman W. Bierie, of Bluffton, well-known in Adams county, announced his retirement Friday from the Indiana state police after 20 years of service. Bierie has not announced his plans for the future, but it is reported that he plans to become Democratic candidate for sheriff of Wells county. Bierie entered the serve in 1935, and attended the first state trooper school. He was assigned to Jay county for two years, and in 1937 was transferred to his native county, Wells, where he has resided since that time. Bierie has worked with local law enforcement officers on many robbery, safe-crack-ing, and other jobs in Adams coun- - nu—i

Dale Dilts, 39, Winamac, a building contractor, died this morning in Memorial Hospital here from a brain concussion. Yoder Dies In Sarasota Mrs. Mary Schwartz Yoder, 79, a native of the Berne area, died Wednesday in Sarasota FJa., where she had resided for the past 10 years. Surviving are the husband, Trennis: four daughters, five sons, and three sisters, including Mrs. Elizabeth Graber, of Berne, 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The body will be returned to the Getting funeral Home, Harlan, and burial will be in the Leo memorial cemetery. Savings Bond Sales Increase In State Indiana's sales of U. S. savings bonds for December were increased 17.6 per cent over the corresponding month of 1956. The national sales gain for the morfth was 1.3 per cent. Last December’s sales were $12,728,492 compared with $10,823,475 for the like period of the former year, according to a report made to T. F. Graliker, chairman of the Adams county U. S. savings bonds committee. Graliker said that Adams county’s sales for December were $83,451.83 compared with $91,215.92 a year ago. Fifty-eight of Indiana’s 92 counties, showed sales gain for the month.
