DECATUR WOMAN’S CLUB TO HAVE MEETING TONIGHT The Junior Women's department will be in charge of the program for t|ie general meeting of the Decatur Woman’s club tonight at eight o’clock at the Youth and Community Center. Mrs. Floyd Reed, program chairman, is being assisted by Mrs. Eugene Chronister, Mrs. Robert Babcock and Mrs. Thomas Buuck. Mrs. James Montgomery of Fort Wayne,-third vice-president of the twelfth district is aranging the program, which will include talks by four exchange students. Ken Eliasson of Sweden, an exchange student at Decatur high school, will be a guest. Mrs. Floyd Cowens wiU also speak on Hinduism. Following the meeting, Mrs. Reed will entertain members of the Junior Women's section with a buffet at her home. The Dutiful Daughters class of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren chftrch has postponed it’s meeting .to,next week. The Salem Methodist W.S.C.S will meet Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Helen Tinkham. - : - A meeting of the Zion Lutheran Missionary society will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the parish hall. The Gals and Pals Home Demonstration club meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed until next week. Texas Reels Under Heavy Rain, Snow 1,000 Persons Are Forced To Evacuate By UNITED PRESS Texas reeled today under the combined blows of flooding rains which forced the evacuation of more than 1,000 persons in the southern part of the state and a 17-inch snow storm that strande'i motorists in-the West. The floods hit the Lower Ric Grande Valley Sunday in the wake of 36 hours of steady rains which dumped more than eight inches of water at Corpus Christi. Tex. ,• 1 ABout 400 persons flbd their homes in Edinburg where floodwaters inundated some 16 city blocks. Officials said about 501 persons, were evacuated in Bishop north df Edinburg, and about 35C persons in the Robstown-Clark-wood area near Corpus Christi. The Red Cross set up emergency shelters in churches- schools and a dance hall for the evacuees and evacuation patrols roamed tht flood-stricken area. William Feller Attends Convocation The Rev. William C. Feller, pastor of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church of this city, left this afternoon for Columbus, Ohio, where he will attend a national convocation on the city church. The convocation is sponsored by the board of home missions of the Congregational Christian churches and the board of national missions of the Evangelical and Reformed church, and will bring to-, gether some 500 delegates from these two church families which last June united to form the United Church of Christ. Participants in the convocation have been selected by the Congregational state conference and the Evangelical and Reformed synods. Quotas have been allocated to the state and regional bodies bn the basis of the. size and number of urban centers within their bounds. Rev. Feller is delegated as a members of the committee on national missions of tire Michigan-In-diana synod. The convocation opens Tuesday morning and will close in mid-afternoon Thursday.

Richard Himsel, 23. Jasper, died in his burning car along a county road northwest of Jasper early Sunday. State police said Himsel apparently fell asleep and the car rammed into a tree.
