Detroit Lions Rally To Whip San Francisco SAN FRANCISCO (UP)-A rollicking band of Detroit Lions, who roared loudest all season long when they were behind, girded today for the big > money battle against the Cleveland Browns in the auto city next Sunday. Fresh from a_3l-27 “kill”.of the San Francisco Forty Niners’ in the playoff for the Western Division title, the Lions are "ready, willing and able” to take on the Browns in the big game where a win is worth about $5,000 to each player." The game is rated even. The Lions, noted for comebacks, spotted San Francisco a 20-point lead early in the third quarter and then came snapping back with one of the great comebacks in football hsitory. The host Bluffton Tigers mill meet the Portland Panthers in the second game at 8:45 p.m. The Friday night los- ' ers will clash in the consolation i game for third place at 7:30 p.m. ' Saturday, followed by the championship game between the Friday winners. Season tickets for the tourney, priced at $1.25, are on • sale only at the Holthouse on the Highway store. Prices are the same for adults and students, but they will be in different sections. Tickets will be available at the Holthouse store until early Friday afternoon. All seats in the Bluffton gym are reserved. Single session tickets, also reserveed, and priced at 80 cents, will be sold only at the Bluffton gym prior to each session. Six of the other schools in the county will return to action next Week, with Adams Central idle until Jan. 10. Two games Friday. Jan. 3, jyill have Mills at Geneva and Monmouth at Union township. Three games are scheduled Saturday, Jan. 4, with the Decatur Commodores traveling to Anderson to- meet St. Mary’s in a Central Indiana Catholic conference game; the Eagles tangling with the Hartford Gorillas at Monmouth, and the Berne Bears moving up to Leo. The Yellow Jackets will be idle next week, returning to action on their home court Friday, Jan. 10, against the New Haven Bulldogs. Roger Moser, of Hartford, pouring in 32 points Friday as the Gorillas walloped Redkey, boosted his season point total to 209 in 10 games for an average of 20.9 points per game to retain the individual scoring leadership in the county.
