If you’re going away over the holiday, drive so you will be able to also drive back home. ' —a o The President and Secretary Dulles plan talks to the nation tonight. Most people would much rather have action than a lot of words. Let’s put our shoulders to the wheel and start thinking about the United States instead of grumbling about what has happened. <o Sales of 1958 automobiles have ' reached such a low ebb that many manufacturers have announced big lay-offs. No doubt the price and similarity in most models to the 1957 output are two big factors in the sales drop-offs. Lack of purchasing power and lack of future earning power also are holding back new car sales. Indiana workmen in several auto plants will feel the brunt of the lay-offs, and many manufacturers who 'make parts for various automobiles also will be forced to close down. It isn’t a very good outlook for early 1958.

j ■ i . - r 'i i. ■ . The stock market continues to average off lower almost each day, which to us average folks don’t mean much. It does reflect business in general and when the market averages high, it means business is good generally. When it drops off, business is bad and of course indirectly that the whole economy is lower. o— —o - There is always a strong community where there are strong ministers of all denominations. The local ministerial association is presently one of the strongest and most active Decatur has ever had. When churches are really a part of a Community, the whole Community profits and such is the case here at present. All of us should be proud of all of our Churches, whether we are active or passive members. It is wonderful to live and raise your family where the Christian spirit is alive and it is one of the big reasons why Decatur is such a splendid community in which to live.
