Order Hartford Forfeit Game To Cardinals The Indiana high school athletic association today placed three more high schools, including Hartford Center, on probation until April 1, 1958, for violating the recently-adopted four-period per session basketbail player limit. The Hartford Gorillas forfeited their 53-38 victory scored over the Geneva Cardinals last Friday night for using an unidentified player four periods in the reserve game and one extra stanza in the varsity game. This decision will make the Hartford season record now seven victories and two defeats, and the Geneva record three victories and four losses. Hartford will also lose possession of the Limber lost Bell, which now goes to Geneva. Two other schools placed on probation were Indianapolis Howe and Beech Grove, an Indianapolis suburb, for violations of the same, rule while playing each o then also last Friday. Beech Grove won the game, but since both teams violated the rule, it was ruled “no contest.” IHSAA commissioner L. V. Phillips said the two schools will not be permitted to replay the game and they will not be permitted to schedule a game in its place. Last week, Bourbon and Hanover were placed on probation for similar infractions. Probation is the "lightest” penalty that can be meted out in such cases, but Phillips indicated the IHSAA may hand out suspensions unless the new rule is followed to the letter. Hartford Center reported its own violation of the rule. The boy involved played only the last eight seconds of the final quarter of the varsity game.
