MRS. BLANCHE ROBINSON HAS CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY Mrs. Blanche Robinson was hostess Wednesday for a Christmas dinner party of the Historical club. The turkey dinner was served to 16 members. Mrs. Henry Adler had charge of the Christmas program, reading the Christmas story as told in Saint Luke. She also related several stories of Christmas of long ago. Cheer sisters of the past year Were revealed as gifts were exchanged later in the afternoon. GARDEN CLUB MEMBERS MEET WITH MRS. MacLEAN Members of the Decatur Garden club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. George D. Mac Lean, .with Mrs. Henry Heller and Mrs. William Kohls assisting her. Reading of the club collect and the verse of the month opened the meeting, after which 18 members answered roll call by giving a Christmas quotation. A short business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Amos Yoder, club president. Mrs. William Kohls presented the reading of the Christmas story as told in Luke, and she offered a Christmas poem. Mrs. Heller then read a Christmas story entitled “The Cobbler and his Guest.” During the social hour which followed, the hostesses served refreshments from a table attractively decorated in keeping with the holiday season. Other Christwgs decorations were used throughout the Mac Lean home. BUDGET LOAN CORPORATION ENTERTAINS ITS EMPLOYES Budget Loan Corporation recently entertained its employes, their families and guests at the eighth annual Christmas dinner and party at the Durbin hotel in Rushville. Fifty persons were present for the reception and dinner, held in the “Lanes end rdom” of the hotel. Tables were decorated with overflowing cornucopias, • greenery and lighted tapers. Following the dinner, Joseph H. Burris, of New Castle, presided as toastmaster. He introduced the “Twelve Little Girls,” a choral group which presented several numbers under the direction of Meyers. The toastmaster then recalled humorous anecdoates in the lives of each of the toastmase and lives of each of the corporation's employes. John H. Payne, of Rushville, se-cretary-treasurer, presented five year awards, and also awards to winners of a recent insurance contest. The New Castle office received the insurance trophy. Due to the illness of Victor H. president of the Budget Loan Corp., Burris presented the manager award of the year to Howard A. Smith, of New Castle. After completion of the dinner and program, a gift exchange was conducted. Attending from the De-

Sleling was recently elected president of the Decatur Welcome Wagon club after that group met at the Fairway testaqrant for thekr Christmas dinner. Seventeen members attended the. dinner party, for which the serving tables were decorated with lighted candles and evergreen branches. A small white Christmas tree served as the centerpiece. Following the dinner, the members went to the home of Mrs. Ralph Smith for a business and social meeting. Other officers elected are vice president, Mrs. Kenneth Shannon, and secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Edward Pagelar. Mrs. Everett Shauner was welcomed as a new member of the club. Several games were participated in by the group, after which coffee and Christmas cookies were served by the hostess, wfio was assisted by Mrs. Shannon and Mrs. Harold Messick. Hie door prize was won by Mrs. Robert Darling, who will be hostess tot the January meeting.
SUNNY CIRCLE CLUB HAS RECENT CHRISTMAS PARTY Mrs. Ralph Mankey, Mrs. Marvin Conrad and Mrs. Gary Heckman were recently hostesses for the Christmas party of the Sunny Circle home demonstration club, which was held at the Preble township community building. The entertaining rooms were appropriately decorated for the season, with the traditional Christmas tree and other holiday appointments. The potluck dinner was followed by a gift exchange, when secret pals for the past year were answered. Secret pals for next year were then drawn. Roll call was answered by 26 members attending the party. One guest was also present. The secretary’s and treasurer's reports were given, followed by the devotional lesson by Mrs. Conrad, and the history of the song of the month was presented by Mrs. Milton Kruetzman. —- - Numerous Christmas carols were sung by the. group, after which games were played with prizes being awarded to the winners. The door prize was won by Mrs. William Kruetzman. Mrs. Arnold Erxleben was. welcomed into the club as its newest member. FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE HAS PARTY AT REEF HOME The Friendship Circle of the Decatur Missionary church met at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Reef recently, with 15 members and two guests in attendance. Guests were Mrs. Ralph Reef and Mrs. William Felton, and Mrs. Charles Rhoades was welcomed as a new member of the circle. Following the minutes of the November meeting, the circle’s officers each told of their hopes for the circle for the coming year, and announcement was made seeking clothing for a needy family. The group then joined in singing a medley of Christmas carols. Devotions were given by Mrs. Lester Strahm, who used as scripture the first and second chapof Luke, verses $6 to 38 and 1 to 20, respectively Her theme was “Prophecies Fulfilled,” and she carried it out by using the Biblical references te Christmas in telling of the promises fulfilled in each of them. Mrs. Robert Reynolds offered a prayer to close this portion of the meeting. Mrs. Norris Blocker and Mrs. Rhoades were in charge of th* game session which followed. Aft-
er prayer by Mrs. Gerald Gerig, a carry-in luncheon was served and memebers exchanged gifts. Each woman present also donated a pair of men’s stretch stockings, to be given to the church missionaries. MRS. KOENEMAN ENTERTAINS FARM BUREAU LEADERS Mrs. Arthur Koeneman, 1957 Adams county farm bureau women’s leader, entertained all the township farm bureau women leaders and the county pet and hobby leaders with a Christmas party last evening at her home in Preble township. The entertaining rooms were gaily decorated with holiday decorations. Games and contests were played and a program of “Christmas in Many Lands” was given by Miss Gloria Koeneman. Carols Were sung throughout the program. Holiday refreshments of open face sandwiches, Christmas cookies, coffee and punch were served from the candle-lit dining room. Gifts of hande-made crocheted handkerchiefs were given to all guests by the hostess. Those present for the evening were: Mrs. Wayne Minnick, Mrs. Claude Marckel, Mrs. Eli Schwartz, Mrs. Herman Bleeke, Mrs. Irvin Worthman, Mrs. Edward Gerbers, Mrs. Floyd Rupert, Mrs. Merle Kuhn, Mrs. Otto Boerger, Mrs. Harvey Lehman and Mrs. Lester Bird of Hartford City, district Farm Bureau women’s leader. Unable to attend were Mrs. Richard Scheuman, Mrs. Ralph Miller and Mrs. Hugh David Mosser.
ALL DAY CHRISTMAS PARTY ATTENDED BY CLUB WOMEN An all day Christmas meeting, featuring a potluck dinner at the noon hour, was attended by 30 members of the Root township home demonstration club, which met recently at the home of Mrs. Loren Jones. A brief business session was conducted by the president, Mrs. Harmeal, which was served on card old Owens, followed by the noon tables decorated in keeping with the holiday motif. Several games of bingo were played, with appropriate holiday prizes going to the winners. Mrs. R. C. Hersh, who was a guest at the meeting, conducted an installation service for the club's new officers, after which members joined sinsinging a number of Christmas carols. During the gift exchange which flolowed, capsule friends for the past year , were revealed. Mr?. Fred Junkel won the door prize. Mrs. Jones was assisted throughout the day by Mrs. Royal Friend and Mrs. Al Schneider. ONE HUNDRED AND SIX ATTEND FAMIL PARTY One hundred and six members and their families attended the Christmas party of the Bethany Builders class of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church, held Tuesday evenin gin the church basement. Members of the committee prepared the dinner, which was served at 6 p.m., from tables seasonably decorated with angels, lighted candles and tree boughs. The place of each adult was marked with pink and blue miniature wreaths, while each child received a candy cane as a fovor. Christinas music was played throughout the meal. Mrs. Helen Rickord and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Teeple served as co-chairmen of the event, and were assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Lawrenc Anspaugh, Mr. and Mrs. Marvl Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Koltr, r. and Mrs. Roger Fruechte, Mr. and Mrs. Feasel, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brunner, Mr. and Mrs. Art Beeler and Mrs. Betty Andrews. After the supper, the gift exchange was conducted among the children, while the adults contributed money for toys for the nursery of the church instead of having an exchange. The business meeting was then conducted by the class president, Mel Tinfcham. The Rev. Benjamin Thomas led the group in singing three Christmas carols, and the Christmas scripture was read by Karl Kolter. Leo Feasel then read a poem “Everywhere Christmas,” after which members of the class

presented gifts to their teacher and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Deaton. Election of officers for the coming year was conducted, with the following results: Roger Fruechte, president; Harry Schwartz, vice president; Mrs. Kenneth McConnel, secretary, and Mrs. Simeon Hain, treasurer. Rev. Thomas closed the meeting by offering prayer. Mrs. Hal Teeter will be hostess to a Christmas dinner for members of the Holy Family study club, Monday evening at 6:30 o'clock. A seven pound, 13 ounce son born at the Parkview memorial hospital December 11, to Howard and Eleen Scherer Frederick, of route 2, Monroeville. He has been named Kent Alan. Jean and Eileen Roebuck Werling, of route 5, Decatur, are parents of twins, born this morning. The little girl arrived at 6:15’0’clock and the boy arrived at 5:15 o’clock.
