Spartans Drop Seventh In Row Saturday Night The Pleasant Mills Spartans suffered their seventh loss of the season without a victory Saturday night as they dropped a close decision to Wren, 0., 50-46, at the Wren gym. The Spartans outshot their opponents from the field, 18-16, but lost at the foul line, sinking only 01 free throws to 18 by Wren. The Ohio quintet led at all quarters, 12-9, 22-17 and 35-30. The winners were led by Royer with 17 points, followed by Holden with 15 and Brittson with 10. Jack Butler was the only Spartan in double figures with 13. The Spartans will entertain the Petroleum Panthers at Pleasant Mills Tuesday night, and meet the Decatur Commodores at Decatur Friday. Tuesday night, the Commodores host the tough Hoagland Wildcats, who have lost only one game this season. In Tuesday's other tilt, the Spartans will h'ost the Petroleum Panthers at the Pleasant Mills gym. In Thursday’s lone encounter, the Greyhounds will entertain the Ossian Bears at Adams Central. The Commodores will play at home again Friday, hosting the Pleasant Mills Spartans at the Decatur gym. The Yellow Jackets will be after their first Northeastern Indiana conference victory Friday, as they travel to Columbia City to meet the Eagles. Decatur has lost to Bluffton and Fort Wayne Concordia, while Columbia City has lost to both Bluffton and New Haven. The Berne Bears and Geneva Cardinals’will tangle at Berne in the feature game for the county teams Friday night. The Eagles will entertain the Bryant Owls at Monmouth, and the Hartford Gorillas, with eight victories in a row. will host Redkey at Hartford. •» —oOo— —. The Decatur Yellow Jackets will be the only county team in action during the holidays. The Jackets will play in the four-team tourney at Bluftfon. Decatur will meet the Peru Tigers in the tourney opener at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dqc. 27, followed by the Bluffton ’©gers and the Portland Panthersw'fha Friday losers will meet in the consolation tilt at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 followed by the championship game. The event will continue through January 2, and men, worm en or mix6d’couples can compete. The tournament is figured on a 70 percent handicap, and is open only to local bowlers. Bowlers may bowl as often as they wish, and with different partners each time. Entrants can roll any week day afternoon, or Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings until the deadline. At the present time. Roily Ladd and Fred Hoffman, both well-known Decatur, bowlers, lead the-tournament with, j a 1330, rolled Saturday.

Monmouth Is 1 Handed 58-48. 1 Defeat By Roll The Monmouth Eagles dropped below the .500 mark Saturday night as they were defeated by the RoU Rollers, 58-48, at the Roll gym. The Eagles have now lost four games while winning three. The Blackford county team led at all periods, 21-10, 40-22, and 4635. Butch Myers, of Monmouth, led both teams in scoring with 22 points, but was the only Eagle in double figures. Payne topped RoU with 19 markers, followed by Dollar with 16 and Lewis with 12.
