Remember to buy some Christmas Seals. These little stickers should be on all your Christmas letters and packages. They represent the only fund raising of the Tuberculosis society and that group operates the year around when you need them. ■ ■ . o O - The kiddies and grown-ups are still talking about last Saturday's train trip to meet Santa Claus and chances are the event will be made an annual affair. This year almost all of the retail stores joined in the enterprise and in all probability every merchant will take part in 1958. It stirs interest in Christmas shopping and brings hundreds of visitors to Decatur. . o o-— Lakeland college concert band from Plymouth, Wisconsin, under the able fflrection of Prof. Edgar Thiessen, gave a splendid concert at Decatur high school Friday afternoon. This musical organization is regarded as one of the finest in the middlewest. The present itinerary will take it to several Indiana cities before it returnes to Wisconsin. Those who heard the concert were high in their praise of the band and its director. .. . o o A teen-age bake sale under —— management of the Youth Center agers, will precede the annual auction sale at the Boknecht building formerly occupied by the Ford garage next Saturday. The bake sale will close as the annual auction sale starts. Proceeds from both the bake Sale and the auction, at which there will be many new items, will go to the Youth and Community Center fund for operation and maintenance. The auction will be w conducted by students of the Rep- - pert school under direction of Q. R. Chaffee, dean of the school. A big crowd is anticipated and each year the students do a great selling job. Public participation in the sale is invited.

A thin film of ice is reported on northern Indiana lakes and it won't be long until the ice fishermen will be thick. It's always J wise when you go to some lake, to look up the conservation officer of the district before venturing out on the ice. He will tell you if the ice is safe and incidentally he might also give you some good information on just where they're biting. Maybe it was a shame to rout out Doc Sherwood and Bill Sayer, former G.O.P. state leaders, from their warm spot in Florida and bring them back to Indiana to face conspiracy charges. Perhaps if all of their thievery and misdemeanors are disclosed the Court will make it hot enough for them, that they won’t miss their sunshine, swimming pools and other ill-gotten luxury. o—o College basketball is in full awing and between now and next spring there will be many interesting moments for the fans. In the professional field, that spot must still be shared with professional football which has a couple of weeks to go before the championship play-off. Then baseball will come back into the picture and almost every day there is something doing in the field ot sports. It makes for a lot of interest and a lot of excitement , o o Chartering of the Farmers Union in Adams county this week will bring another strong group to 'bdr community. Purpose of the organization is to solidify the members into a thinking organization standing for those things which will tend to make the farmees stronger as a total group. Os course the Union also has insurance benefits and buying opportunities like the other farm groups. The Union also maintains national and state legislative representatives to further its ideals. We welcome the Union to Adams county. . ...
