S. highway 27 north of Decatur, appeared in city court this morning to answer a charge of speeding. He entered a plea of guilty and was fined $1 and costs.

Albert Mathew Dies Early Sunday Night Funeral Services To Be Wednesday Albert Mathew. 70, lifelong resident of Van Wert county, 0., and a retired farmer, died at 8:10 o'clock Sunday evening at his home in Harrison township, Decatur route 5. He had been ill six weeks following a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born in Pleasant township. Van Wert county, Jan. 21, 1887, a son of Sanford and Mary Elizabeth Seidel-Mathew, and was 1 married to Olive Farling May 8, 1910. Mr. Mathew was a member of the First Methodist church at Van Wert. Surviving are his wife; one son, Clifford Mathew of Van Wert county; one daughter, Mrs. Luther Koch of Ohio City. O.; eight grandchildren; one brother, Cary H. Mathew of Lima, 0., and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Cowgill of Ohio City, 0., and Mrs. D. P. Wiseman of Van Wert county. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Cowan & Son funeral home in Van Wert, the Rev. Paul B. Chiles officiating. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery at Van Wert. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of the services. Smith Heads State Prosecutors' Group Prosecuting attorney Lewis L. Smith will take over his duties as president of the state prosecuting attorneys association this week at the annual conference at Indianapolis . A major item on the agenda will be a review of all decisions by the Indiana supreme court on criminal cases since the last meeting of the prosecutors. Prosecutor Smith stated that other special sections are planned on grand jury sessions and on reckless homicide cases. Several Complaints Os Vandalism Here Several complaints of vandalism were made to city police over the weekend. Manfred Melchi, of Fort Wayne, reported Sunday that while his car was parked neat Decatur high school Friday night during a basketball game a tire was damaged with an ice pick or a knife. A similar complaint was filed by Dick D. Heller, Jr., who told police that a tire on his car was also slashed.** The car was parked at 311 ( West Madison street. Windows were broken by a pellet gun or stones at the Decatur Auto Supply company on First! street Thursday or Friday, ac- ' cording to a complaint made by Don Forst, who said that the damage totalled about $l5O. The theft of auto license plates was reported by Wendall Seaman, of Decatur route three. Saturday who said that the plates were stqjen either Friday night or Saturday morning. Public Intoxication Charge Filed Here A charge of public intoxication was filed in Adams circuit court this morning against Ray "Ts Schott, 38. of Decatur, who was arrested following a disturbance at the Winrae Drive-in on 13th street Saturday afternoon. Series Os Schools Planned To Farmers Plan Annual Winter Schools In State "To keep abreast of a fast changing agriculture, farmers need the most current and accurate information available to help Solve their problem." Leo W. Seltenright, county agent, said today. / ’ With this objective, a series of srtWMrtiihihen- arrahged-for Adams county. Extension specialists from Rurdue University will lead discussions at these winter schools to bring new information to the farmers of the county. Seltenright announced this schedule of schools and specialists to be on the programs for Adams County. The first will be a district policy school Jan. 29 in Fort Wayne, according to Seltenright. January 29 — District policy — ag. economics specialist — Fort Wayne. ’ _ January 30 — Intensive sytems of hog production — Columbia City. March 5 — Rates, methods and materials of fertilizer — specialist Russel Stivers at co-op building in Monroe. March 12 — Weeds and insect control — specialists O. George Kahn Burned In City Dump Mishap George Kahn, manager of the city dump, is still In the Adams county memorial hospital following serious bums to his feet received at the city dump Thursday. Kahn was walking over hot ashes which gave way, apd he sank into them, encasing his. feet in the red- * hot material. He suffered first-de-gree burns over most of his feet, and a doctor recommended -his hospitalization to keep him from developing a serious infection.
