Fori Wayne Man Is Taken Into Custody Arrested Here On Fort Wayne Charge Fhig^i^Kleelx^^ - 32 of "Fort Wayne, was arrested by local authorities Tuesday ' night at about 8:45 p.m. on Court street at the request of Fort Wayne‘-officials,’ who sought him on a charge of assault and battery. ' tel Tuesday evening. Mrs. Klee- [ berg was hospitalized as a result of the attack. Fort Wayne police sent out an alert on Kleeberg, wijp was known to have headed south in a dark gray convertible. City police officer Al Nern, waiting at the intersection of Washington and 13th street, saw the Kleeberg car going south on 13th street. Nern followed the man, who turned off U. S. 27 onto Monroe street, drove to Second street, turned right, went to Jefferson then to Third, right on Third to Court and then right again on Court. He finally stopped across from the court house. Kleeberg jumped out es his car and Nern ordered him at gunpoint
to put his hands on the car. The Fort Wayne man at first refused and then complied with the order, fn the meantime several other officers camte to Nern's assistance. They included police chief James Borders, state trooper Al Coppes, sheriff Merle Affolder and deputies Robert Meyer and Charles Arnold. The man was taken first to the Adams county jail and then was • returned to Fort authorities by chief Borders and trooper Coppes. He is being held in Fort Wayne under a $5,000 bond. Auto Demolished By . Train Tuesday Night A car» driven by Keith Brandt. 17. of Decatur route two, was completely demolished Tuesday night when it stalled on the PennysIvania railroad crossing in Convoy, 0., just before a fast trian came through. Brandt got out of tne car when it stalled and ran down the tracks in an unsuccessful attempt to flag down the train. The Adams county youth was not injured. Sheriff Attends State Convention Sheriff Merle Affolder has returned after attending the annual Indiana sheriffs association convention in Indianapolis Monday and Tuesday. He was accompanied by his wife. Affolder was one of nine sheriffs named to the executive board of the association. The local sheriff also served as a jnember of the committee which chose this year’s sheriff of the year. Elks Will Initiate Class Os Candidates A class of candidates will be initiated at the regular semi-month-ly meeting of the Decatur Elks lodge, to be held at 8 o’clock Thursday night at the lodge home on North Second street. Refreshments will be served following the meeting, and all members are urged to attend.

The Aggies, who replaced Oklahoma as the top-ranked team in this week’s United Press ratings, are picked to defeat Southern Methodist by at least two touchdowns. i Oklahoma is an 18-point favorite to make Missouri its 47th consecutive victim, and third-ranked Auburn is the choice by eight points over Mississippi. All other members of the United Press top 10 are favored by at least one touchdown. Headon Collision Is Fatal To One Man MICHIGAN CITY (IB — A twocar headon collision on a Curve at the intersection of U. S. 6 and U. S. 421 south of Westville laOe Tuesday resulted in the death of a man tentatively identified as Alden Sally, about 30, Chicago. Injured seriously in the collision was Cash Foster, 32, Chicago, a passenger in the Sally car. Listed as fair in Holy Family Hospital in LaPorte was Floyd Ellis, 63, South Bend, drive of the other car.
