Football Lrapur hlwrrAnthony J. (Tony) Morabito. advised to ‘‘get out of football” after he had a heart attack several years ago, suffered another in the second quarter at San Francisco. He was dead when his FortyNiners wiped out a 17-7 halftime deficit and edged the Chicago Bears, 21-17. The Bears were fivepoint favorites. The Forty-Niners started the day tied with the Baltimore Colts and Detroit Lions for the Western Division lead. Los Angeles Rams whipped Detroit, 35-17, and the Green Bay Packers upset Baltimore, 24-21, on Babe ParilM's 75yard scoring pass to Bill Howton in the last 29 seconds. Those results left San Francisco alone at the top but Coach Frankie
Albert couldn't enjoy the third victory his team has recorded this year by four points or less. "We’d rather lose them all by 100 points than lose what we did. Tony was the greatest owner." Albert said while tears trickl<*d down his cheeks. Cleveland, grinding away behind a defense that has allowed only 46 points in five games, rallied to beat the Chicago Cardinals, 17-7. The Browns had been tied with the New York Giants for the Eastern lead but were left alone at the top when the Washington Redskins downed the Giants. 31-14. The Redskins, 11-point underdogs, pulled the upset of the day. Coach Buddy Parker’s Pittsburgh Steelers moved into a sec-ond-place tie with New York by

I. U. Scores First Victory Os Season INDIANAPOLIS (UP)—lt took a last-second goal-line stand and a long fourth-period pass play, but the “Big 3” in Indiana college football all wore smiles today. The long drought ended at Indiana when the undermanned Hoosiers' shook off Villanova, 14-7, for their first victory .in eight games Saturday. Indiana’s’ eight-man line stopped the Wildcats about a yard from scoring territory as the clock ran out. - — High-ranking Notre Dame made it four in a row, 13-7, over Pitt, thanks to George Izo’s 74-yard pass to Aubrey Lewis. Purdue rolled over Miami, Ohio, 37-6, for its most lop-sided decision in two years. There’ll: be little rest, however, for Indiana must go to Minnesota Saturday, Purdue invades Illinois, and Notre Dame entertains Navy. St. Joseph’s is scheduled at Ball State, Butler at Evansville and Indiana State at Valparaiso in the Indiana Collegiate Conference. In the Hoosier Conference, Hanover tries Anderson and Indiana Central is at Franklin. The ValpoSt. Joe and Evansville-DePauw ICC games last Saturday were called off because of the flu. Taylor tied league-idle Hanover for the HOC lead by beating Indiana ’Central. 19-13. In the ICC, Butler made it three in a rbw, spanking Ball State, 27-7. Elsewhere, Jim Easton exploded for four tallies to lead Manchester to a 40-7 rout over Earlham; Anderson tripped Indiana State, 23-7; Rose Poly romped over Franklin, 49-18; Wabash dumped Ohio Wesleyan, 35-13. and Hanover matched Taylor’s five-game perfect string by whipping Centre, Ky., 26-19. DePauw travels to Rochester. N.Y., Saturday. Taylor to Defiance, Ohio, and Wabash to Washington & Lee. Earlham entertains Oberlin and Manchester hosts Bluffton, both from Ohio. Three Arrested For Traffic Violations Three motorists were arrested Saturday and Sunday in Decatur for traffic violations. A charge of reckless driving was filed against Richard Noll, 35. of 245 West Monroe street, after he was arrested early Sunday morning. He was apprehended after his car was seen stopped on the Erie railroad tracks between Winchester and Line street. He had apparently driven down the tracks. Also arrested were Albert L. Bowers. 19, of Monroeville route one, for disregarding a stop sign at the corner of Third and Jefferson streets Saturday, and Larry D. Dellinger, 16, of Willshire, 0., for running a red light at Monroe and 13th streets Saturday. All three are slated to appear in justice of the peace court later. Jailed For Failure To Pay For Support Richard Leon Velez, 22, of Berne route one, appeared in circuit court this morning following his arrest Sunday at his home on a body attachment issued by Judge Myles F. Parrish. The attachment was issued Sept. 14 when Velez failed to appear in court to show compliance with a court order concerning support payments to Rachel Velez. Shortly before that date, Velez was found guilty of indirect civil contempt of court on the failure to comply, as a result of an affidavit filed by Rachel Velez. This morning the court found that Velez is in arrears in the amount of $306 on the support payments and attorney fees arising out of a divorce suit. Velez was remanded to the Adams county jail until he complies with the court order and makes full payment on the arrearage.
