North Side Takes Cross Country Meet Fort Wayne North Side won the sectional cross country meet, held at Franke park in Fort Wayne Tuesday afternoon. North Side scored 41 points to win the meet, with Fort Wayne Central second with 48. Steve Hibler, of Fort Wayne Concordia, won the individual championship in 9:53.1, defeating Bob Hawkins, of Central, by 10 yards. Only one Adams county entrant nlaced in the first 25 individual finishers. Jim Boerger, of the Monmouth Eagles, finished in 12th place. Only half of the 24 teams entered in the meet showed up with full with the flu plaguing many of the schools. North Side and Central both qualified for the IHSAA state meet, which will be held at Indianapolis Saturday, Nov. 2. The first five individuals finishing regardless of their team scores, also qualify for the state. They are Hibler, Hawkins, Walt Womack of Butler, third; Bill Ewing, North Side, fourth, and Merlin Thimlar, Butler, fifth. Team points were as follows: North Side 41, Central 48, Fort Wayne South 115, Peru 127, Con--ordia 139, Butler 144, Arcola 156, Monmouth 243, Adams Central 246, Berne 260, Topeka 297, Bluffton 329. ’ utheran Church To Observe Reformation The festival of the reformation of the church will be observed Sunday morning at the 8 and 10:30 o'clock services at the Zion Lutheran church. The men’s chorus of the church, directed by Karl Retaking, will sing “A Mighty Fortresr is Our God” at the 10:30 service. The Rev. Edgar P. Schmidt, pastor, will speak on “Blessings to the church from the Protestant reformation.” The public is invited to attend. Holy communion will be celebrated at the 10:30 service. Members may register for the sacrament in the church Friday between the hours of 1 and 8 p.m.

Honor Post Officers At Teachers Meeting A dinner at the Van Orman Hotel, Fort Wayne, will honor the past presidents and aecretaries of the northeast division of the Indiana State teachers’ association, including W. Guy Brown, president of the division in 1939, and the late M. F. Worthman, secretary of the division from 1922 to 1934. The dinner will be part of the convention program during the annual meeting of all state teachers Thursday and Friday. Recognizing past officers is the theme of the 35th year of the association. Three Adams county principals are serving on the advisory committee of the group, having been chosen for the years 1957 through 1959. They include Hugh J. Andrews, of JDecatur high school, Clarence J. Neuenschwander, of Berne-French school, and William J. Lee, of Geneva, representing the county schools. Soybean And Grain Show Here Thursday The second annual soybean show and the first Adams county 4-H grain show will be held Thursday at the Decatur Youth and Community Center, reminds Leo N. Seltenright, county agent. The exhibits will be in by 9 a.m., at which time the judging will start. M. O. Pence, former extension agronomist, will make the official placings. Pence will also present a discussion on soybeans at 1:30 p.m. at the Youth Center. Visitors are welcome to observe the show. Masquerade Bail At Center Friday A Halloween “masquerade ball” for teen agers and adults of the county will be staged at the Youth and Community center Friday evenng, from 9 until 11:30 p.m. Local union 607 is sponsoring the lance, for which those attending ue asked to come masked. There will be no charge. The music for the occasion will be provided by. a grant from the recording industries with co-opera-tion of local 607 of the A. F. and M. The Rev. Vincent Ehinger visited friends and relatives in Decatur Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baughn have returned from a colorful fall trip through the Great Smoky Mountains, and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. William D. A Bluffton worker, Ira Moore, of Wabash route 3, has told state pd* lice that he was kidnaped by two young gunmen Saturday morning in Huntington county while on his way to work. Police are investigating. Kunkel lake was expected to be completely drained by today as conservation department officials orepare to clean out the 25-acre lake in the Wells county game preserve. Clarence Ziner, Rotary district governor, made his official visit to the Bluffton club Tuesday night. Ed F.
