McDougald popped to Mathews near third base. No runs, one hit. no errors, two left. Second Inning BRAVES—Aaron singled to left Covington sacrificed. Larsen tc Cohns, as Aaron took second Torre walked. Mantilla flied tc Slaughter in deep left, Aaron taking third after the catch and Tor re holding first. Crandall forced Torre Kubek to Coleman. No runs, one hit, no errors, two left YANKEES — Mathews made a beautiful back - hand stab of Kubek's sharp grounder near third base and threw him out Mathews charged Coleman’s trickier and threw him out on another fine play as Torre came up with a back-handed pickup oi the third-baseman’s buried throw into the dirt. Colilns struck out. Third Inning ‘ BRAVES — Burdette fouled tc Kubek on Larsen's first pitch. Hazle singled to left. Berra was slow breaking for Logan’s foul on Larsen's third pitch and failed to catch it although it feU near the screen behind the plate. Logan hit to Kubek on two bounces but both runners were safe when Kubek’s throw pulled Coleman off the bag at second and the Yankee third baseman was charged with an error and Logan beat the relay to first. Stengel rushed out of the Yankee dugout to protest the first base call but to no avail. Mathews doubled to right, Hazle and Logan scoring to put the Braves ahead, 2-0. Bobby Shantz replaced Larsen on the mound for New York. Aaron singled through the middle of the diamond, Mathews scoring to put the Braves in front, 3-0. ' Covington singled to left center. Aaron racing to third. Torre forced Covington, Coleman to McDougald, Aaron scoring to ipake it 4-0. Mantilla < flied to Bauer cn the cinder track in right. Four runs, four hits, one error, one left. McDougald made a fine play in the hole to knock down Logan’s grounder but was charged with an error for a low throw to second, Hazle reaching there and Logan first. Mathews lined out to Mantle. No runs, one hit, one error, two left. YANKEES — Mantle flied to short right center. Berra lined out to Hazle. Hazle made a running catch of McDougald’s fly in short right center. Fifth Inning BRAVES—-Aaron beat out a bunt when Berra fumbled the ball. Covington rolled to Kubek, Aaron going to second. Collins took Torre’s grounder and made the putout unassisted, Aaron going to third. Kubek tossed out Mantilla. No runs, Bo hits, one error, one left. YANKEES — Kubek to Covington.
