Keeping the audience’s attention throughout, Dr. Greene used all local subjects for his demonstration. JDr. Greene started by explaining that his act was not a magician’s show, but a scientific one. demonstrating only a very few of the possibilities of hypnotism. After the stage had filled with 16 Decatur people, he took them one by one and attempted to subject them. Most fell under immediately, some more so than others. The show moved rapidly, and when a subject came out from under, he or she was ushered off the stage. One of the highlights of the show was the “human bridge’’ experiment. Floyd Mcßride was deeply hypnotized, and made extremely rigid. Two Lions club members picked him up by his head and feet, and suspended him between two chairs. Dr. Greene was then lifted onto the subject, suspended with only a chair under his head and feet, and his rigid body held the doctor’s weight. •» At one point, three of the subjects were hypnotized into believing they were Elvin Presley, and they performed on imaginary guitars and sang to the great amusement of the audience. Shortly before noon Thursday, Dr. Greene, following the car of police chief James Borders, drove a new 1957 Ford down Second street, starting at the court house, and proceeding south to the Burke’s Standard station, where he turned and returned past the courthouse, and back to Schwartz’ Ford agency. Dr. Greene gained national publicity a few years ago, when after successfully driving blindfolded through a Texas town, he got into his own car and had an accident. Farm Outlook Meet At Monroe Tuesday Everybody talks about the weather .. . This year’s Adams county farm economic outlook meeting will be no exception, says county agent Leo N. Seltenright. Rains in the southwest and in the corn belt may have a lot to do with local prices next year. This will be discussed at the meeting Tuesday in the Adams Central school building. Monroe. Purdue University farm economist, J. K. McDermott will lead the discussion at the meeting. If frost catches the corn crop it may have to be fed before warm weather next spring. What effect will this have on corn prices, hog prices, and feeder cattle prices? Will it affect the 1958 pig crop? The county agent says the outlook discussion will include the complete economic picture for 1958. Its subjects will range from price of land to the prospect for off-the-farm employment. During and after the discussion there will be opportunity to ask questions. WILSON ' (Contl nued from ■ Page One) £- erty was asked at the vacation White House in Newport, R.1., if President Eisenhower had ordered or requested any alert involving troops other than those at Little Rock. Hagerty replied: “Definitely not." The directive actually amounted to a reminder to commanders of what they should be doing under normal Army regulations, if tthey weren’t doing it already. Brucker ordered the directive cancelled, saying it was subject to misinterpretation. If you m ; something to sen cn rocms foi ront, try a Democrat Want Ad they bring results. _
