To Honor Veteran Lutheran Teacher To Honor Uffelman At Service Sunday Wm. E. Uffelmann A special service of thanksgiving Sunday morning by St. John’s Lutheran church on U. S. highway 27 will mark 25 years of service in the teaching ministry to parish school and congregation by William E. Uffelmann. Seminarian Edward Kraus, of Hoagland route one, a former pupil of Uffelmann, will sing the liturgy in the special service which begins at 10:30 a. m. Tbe Rev. Edwin A. H. Jacob is pastor .of St. John's church. A carry-in anniversary dinner will be served at noon in the auditorium of the school following the church service to members and visitors. A short program will follow the anniversary dinner. The teachers of the 10 Lutheran parish schools of circuit ‘A’ have been invited as guests. Superintendent W. J. Gemard and Dr. Robert V. Schnabel of Fort Wayne will bring the greetings of the church body's board for parish education. The committee planning the celebration is composed of Martin Bultemeier, Lloyd Kiess, Sr., William Bultemeyer, Roy Bixler and Franklin Scheimann, all of Decatur route one, and Edgar Witte, of Fort Wayne route seven. Edward Selking of Decatur route one, is president of tiie congregation. The wives of the church council members are in charge of the anniversary dinner. Uffelmann> has been principal and teacher of the upper grades of St. John's parish school since August, 1932. During these 25 years about 240 boys and girls have graduated from his eighth grade. He also serves the congregation as organist for one of the two worship services, and as choirmaster of the mixed choir, the men's choir, and the children's choir. He has served as secretary of the voters’ assembly for many years and on many committees. He prepared himself for the teaching profession at Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Neb., graduating from that institution in 1916. He served as teacher of St. Peter's Lutheran school at North Judson, from 1916 to 1928 During the next four years he taught at St. Paul’s Lutheran school in South Bend. In 1932 he came to St. John's school. He was married to Miss Lydia Spenner of North Judson in 1923. The older son, Herbert, lives in Fort Wayne, while the younger son, Lester. Ilves on route 1. Uffelmann's home was in Waco, Tex. Only Minor Damage Done In Accident Only minor damage was caused in an accident which occurred at the corner of Marshall and Third j streets Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. A car driven by Viola Kirchhofer, 56, of Decatur route two, turned off Marshall onto Third street and hit a northbound car driven by Lester W. Mitchel, 38, of 516 Short street. Damage was estimated at $45 to the Mitchel car and none to the other vehicle. Trade in a good town — Decatur

Two Vehicles Collide Wednesday Evening Two vehicles collided Wednesday at 8 p.m. on U.S. highway 27 about five miles north of Decatur, causing property damage but no injuries. The cars involved were driven by Forrest D. Lyons. Sr., 49, of Dunkirk, and Clarence H. Strauss, 61, of Portland route six. Both vehicles were headed north. Lyons had stopped in a line of traffic waiting for the front car to turn off the highway. Strauss failed to notice that the line was stopped and was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the rear of the Lyons car. Damage was estimated at 8250 to the Lyons vehicle and 8300 to the Strauss car. Deputy sheriff Robert Meyer and state trooper Al Coppes investigated. COURT NEWS Marriage License David William Linnemeier, 20, Decatur, and Darlene Lucille Kaehr, 17, Decatur. Appearance Entered In the divorce case of Harold E. Strickler against Florence I. Strickler, Hubert R. McClenahan has .entered appearance for the defendant and has filed a motion to dissolve the plaintiffs restraining order, a motion for a restraining order against the plaintiff and an application for allowance. Notices were ordered returnable Sept. 13 and the plaintiff then submitted a motion for continuance and the hearing has been continued to Sept. 16. Halberstadt Estate A petition for authority to execute a covenant not to sue has been filed and a petition for authority to execute, release, discharge and covenant to dismiss has been filed in the estate of Thomas P.
