SOCIETY KIRKLAND LADIES CLUB HAS RECENT MEETING A recent meeting of the Kirkland Ladies club was attended by 22 members of that organisation. Roll call was answered by naming ••What 1 did at the 4-H fair." after which the meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Robert Kirchner, who led the group in repeating the club creed.
Mrs. Walter Penrod read the scripture and prayer, followed by a poem presented by Mrs. Ed Kolter The history of the song of the month "Come Where My Love Lies Dreaming." was given by Mrs. John Liby, who then led the group in singing “Billy Boy.” “Happy Birthday was sung to Mrs. Ray Schlickman, and members were urged to send get well cards to a member. Mrs. Harold Barger, who has been in the hospital. . The health and safety lesson Was presented by Mrs. Joe Baumgartner, followed by a talk on "memopause," presented by Mrs. Harold Henchen. Tentative plans for a bake sale to be held this month were made, after which the meeting was closed by repeating the club collect. Mrs. Carl Bieberich was awarded the door prizes. A luncheon was later served by the hostesses, Mrs. Walter Penrod, Mrs. Ed Kolter, 1 and Mrs. Ralph Leyse. Members were reminded to bring their pennies to next month’s meeting. Members of the Decatur Garden club have been extended an invitation from the Tri Lakes Garden club to attend their flower show, which will be held at Columbia City, next Sunday, from 2 until 6 p.m. The show will be at the

American Legion home in Columbia •City, which is located on U. S. 30, west. The Wesley Sunday school class of the First Methodist church will convene in the church recreation room at 7:30 p.m, Thursday, for their regular class party. The meeting of the Ladies Aid of the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren church, originally slated for this Thursday 'evening, has been postponed until the following Thursday evening. A practice session for all officers and members of the Order of Rainbow for Girls will be conducted at the Masonic hall, Wednesday, from 6 until 7 p.m., in preparation for formal initiation, to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. members of the Women’s Guild of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church will meet in the church social rooms, for a carry-in-supper. Besides a covered dish, each member is asked to bring her own table service. Mrs. Wilmer Grote will entertain the members of the Pleasant Grove Women’s Missionary Association, which will meet at her home, Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock. The executive committee of the Women’s Association of the Presbyterian church will meet at the church Friday at 1 p.m. Time for this meeting was erroneously reported as 10 p.m. in Saturday’s church page. Members of the Sancta Maria study dub will meet at 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the home of Miss Esther Meyer.
The annual Monroe Friends homecoming will be held next Sunday at the Monroe Friends church, just off state road 124 in Monroe. A basket dinner will be served in the church basement following the morning church services, and a special program will be presented in the afternoonThose attending are asked to provide their own table service. The organizational meeting of the Bobo community organization will be held at the Bobo school, next Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock. This is the first meeting of the new school year, and all former members and parents are invited to attend. A meeting of the Dorcas class of the Bethany Evangelical United Brethren church will be held this evening, at 7:30 o'clock, at the church. Miss Nancy Ann Mies Injured In Accident Miss Nancy Ann Mies, 18, of Decatur, sustained a laceration to her orehead shortly after midnight Sunday morning when the car in which she was a passenger, operated by DeWayne Agler, 18, of this city, went out of control. The accident occurred on the Piqua road behind Bellmont park and was reported to the sheriff s department. Agler said he lost control of the vehicle when it dropped off the road and the car hit a culvert. Miss Mies was treated at the Adams county memorial hospital and released. Damage to the car was estimated at S4OO.
