To Visit Top Swine Operations In Indiana Two of the state's top hog operations — both in Montgomery first state swine management tour, September 10, Richard Hollandbeck, Purdue University swine specialist, has announced. A commercial operation will be seen at 10 a m. at the,Karl Moser farm, five miles west of Parkersburg or one mile southeast o! Waveland. The purebred enterprise at the Warner Kessler farm, five miles northeast of Ladoga, will be viewed at 2 p.m. Moser and Kessler will appear on a panel with two other prominent Hoosier pork producers — Wilbur Siebrase, Parke county and Jim McCutcheon, Putnam county—at a noon session at Ladoga. Lunch will be available before the program starts. The tour is sponsored by the Indiana Comtnercial Pork Association and the Purdue Agricultural Extension Service in cooperation with the Montgomery county Farm Management Association. A multiple farrowing system is used on the Moser farm with about 100 liters raised each year. Pigs are farorwed in portable crates, weaned early, and "fedout” on concrete. In 1956, 8.2 pigs were weaned per litter. Moser cools the growing-finish-ing hogs with an automatically controlled sprinkler system. At the Kessler farm, visitors will see a farowing house converted from a barn. Each farrowing pen has an automatic water fountain and self feeder and is heated by hot water in pipes running under hovers. Pigs are weaned at about eight JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES Kingdom Hall Corner Monroe and Ninth Sunday 2:30 p.m.: Watchtower Bible Study and discussion on the subject: "Why Jehovah Empties the Earth.” One of the scriptures for consideration will be Isaiah 24:5.
