Nine From County Enroll Al Purdue Enter As Freshmen Or Transfer Pupils LAFAYETTE, Ind.—Nine students from Adams county who are entering Purdue University this fall as freshmen or transfer students have enrolled under the advance registration program for new students, according to announcement from the Office of Admissions. This program opened June 12 and ended July 26. A total of 2,757 of the approximate 3,400 new students admitted for th*’..semester were registered during this period. Decatur Residents Unhurt In Accident A car driven by Joseph Earl Tricker, of Dacatur, overturned near Fort Scott, Kan., Wednesday at 9:05 a. m„ when it swerved to avoid colliding with an auto driven by Dolan Holloway Baker, 76. of Blue Mound, Kan. The car driven by the local man contained his wife and four daughters, but no one was injured. Baker was arrested for failing to yield the right of way to Tricker at a stop intersection, and is to appear in court in Fort Scott Monday. The Tricker family was returning from a trip to Arizona, Mexico, and California. They were able to get the car fixed well enough to get back to Decatur. « * Tride in a good town — Deeatar

Rural Youth Tour Central Soya Co. Educational Tour Features Meeting An educational tour through the Central Soya company featured the Adams county rural youth meeting Thursday evening. Art Burris, safety director of the Central Soya, and Jim Myers of the research department, conducted the tour for the 60 members and guests present. Following the tour, Carl Bluhm called the business meeting to order. Devotions were given by Virginia Vettef. Plans were made for the stand at the state plowing contest. The 1957 county rural youth officers were appointed as a committee to make all- arrangements. The plowing contest will be held August 27 at the Jay Chapman farm in St. Mary's township. It was announced that five members will attend state rural youth camp at Merom, August 14-18. They are: Alice Kukelhan, Marva Schaefer. Legora Markle, Sally McCullough and Gloria Koenempn. Anyone interested in attending midwest rural youth camp, August 30 to September 2 at Green Lake, Wis., is asked to get fes reservations in at the extension office immediately. Earl Yoder,. 1957 county rural youth camp chairman, announced plans for county camp to be held August 24 and 25 at Lake McClure in Kosciusko county. Wabash county presented Adams county with Mr. J. Fred Muggs, the district moving monkey. Plans were made to deliver Mr. Muggs to Wells county next Tuesday evening. Guests were present from Allen, Wabash and Blackford counties. Refreshments of watermelon were served by Earl Yoder and Nancy Sheets. The next regular meeting of the rural youth will be held September 12 and will be held in the Adams county court house. One Driver Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash WINAMAC, Ind. W — Theodore Faulstich, 30, Monterey, was killed Thursday when his automobile collided with a pickup truck driven by an unlicensed 15-year-old youth at a Pulaski County road intersection near here. Relief From Heat Promised Hoosiers Cooler Weather Is Seen Over Weekend By UNITED PRESS Temperatures warmed up toward the 90s today and humidity increased but the hot spell was due for a short Ute. The weatherman forecast temperatures ranging front near 90 north to 94 South this afternoon and Saturday afternoon. It will turn cooler in the north late Saturday and elsewhere Sunday with two days of relief in prospect from the heat and hu- 1 midity. The five-day outlook called for temperatures averaging near normal highs of 82 to #9 and normal lows of 60 to 68 for the period Saturday through next Wednesday. “Turning cooler north portion Saturday and cooler over most of area Sunday and Monday, becoming warmer again Tuesday and Wednesday,” the outlook said.
