Klenk’s Whips Oilers Sunday For Federation Championship

Klenk’s of Decatur won the Federation league Tegular season championship Sunday afternoon, defeating Colonial Oil, 7-1, as the regular season schedule closed. The teams were tied for the lead going into Sunday's clash. Wade Fredricks held the usually hard hitting Oilers to only four hits, with the Oilers scoring their only run in the first inning. Klenk’s tied the score in the fourth, took the lead with a pair of tallies in the seventh, and clinched the championship with a /four-run burst in the eighth. Tom Hoehammer had a home run for Decatur, while Williams, Knape and Fredricks each had two hits. Womack had two of the Oilcry' four safeties. In other league games Sunday, AFL-CIO whipped Massa Construction, 15-5, and Edgerton walloped Payne, 15-3. Yankees Edge Out Tigers In Little League The Yankees, staving otx i. lastinning rally, edged the league-lead-ing Tigers, 5-4, in a Little League gatr>« Saturday night at Worthman field. The Yankees carried a 5-1 lead into the last of the sixth but the Tigers rallied for three runs and had the tying and winning runs on base when Greg Ladd took over the mound and fanned the final batter to preserve the victory for Bob Mies. The Yankees scored two in the first inning on two walks, a double by Dan Lose, a single by Tom Maddox and an error. The winners’ final three runs crossed home plate in the fifth on two bases on balls, two errors and singles by Von Call, Greg Ladd and Dan Lose. The Tigers, held scoreless on two hita for four innings, scored their first run in the fifth on two i walks and an error.
