TWELVE AT THURSDAY’S MEETING OF LADIES AID When the Union Chapel EUB church Ladies Aid met Thursday for their regular meeting, 11 members and one Visitor were present. Singing “Holy Spirit. Faithful Guide," the group opened the meeting, and Mrs. Ammi Miller read Psalm 103. Mrs. George Cramer offered prayer. v To close the short business meeting, Mrs. C. O. Brown gave prayer. and the remainder of the day was spent in sewing and quilting. MRS. MINNICH IS HOSTESS TO PLEASANT MILLS WMA Mrs. Harold Minnich was hostessto the Pleasant Grove Woman’s Missionary Association when the group met recently for their regular monthly meeting. Opening the meeting, Mrs. Clyde Harden lead the group in song, "Am 1 a Soldier of the Cross?” and “Have Thine Own Way, Lord.” Mrs. Er mil Shifferly gave scripture reading, Romans 12:1-13, and Mrs. Carlye Seiple, offering prayer, followed her. "We Visit Headquarters” was the month’s lesson topic, reviewed by the Mredames Robert Burger, Carlyle Seiple, and Harold Minnich. COUNTY CHORES SINGS AT STATE FAIR SEPTEMBER 1 Adams county’s home demonstration club chorus will be a part of the Indiana home demonstration chorus, which will sing at the state fair again this year, Sunday morning, September 1. Under the direction of Marvin Myers, the chorus will present a half hour program, from 9:30 to 10 that morning, according to an announcement made yesterday by Mrs. Stuart H. Brightwell, director of the Adams county home demonstration chorus. During the hour of worship, which begins at 10 o’clock, the chorus will sing two familiar hymns and one anthem, “Hear My Prayer,” by Will James. A Included in the morning program will be “Will You Remember,” “When I Have Sung My Songs/’ “The Moon Behind the Cottonwood,” "Sylvia,” “Ashes of Roses,” "Overtones,” “Trust In Him.” and "Hear Us, O Saviour.” Mrs. Brightwell states that all who plan to sing should notify Mrs. i Adams county chorus members Henry Adler, 518 Marshall St., as | soon as possible. They should also i be sure to mention whether they are driving, so the reservation ' may be made for a sticker for i parking privileges. The deadline i for notifying Mrs. Adler is August 14, and the women who will sing are expected to be in their seats I In the Coliseum no later than 9 a.m., that Sunday morning. I -W. ' ’ Present Award On Television Monday Roy Price, chairman of the 4-H dairy committee, will present the champion showmanship award to Lois Jean Gerke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gerke, on the Monday noon “Farms and Farming” program of Wayne Rothgeb on WKJG-TV at 12:15 p.m. County agriculture agent Leo N. Joanne R. Braun Wed This Morning To Walter Mowery Miss Joanne R. Braun became the bride of Walter F. Mowery at a 9 o'clock nuptial mass in the St. Mary’s Catholic church this morning, the Very Rev. Msgr. J. J. Seimetz receiving the vows. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Braun, of route four, and the bridegroom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mowery, of 225 North Eighth street. bouquets of pink and white gladiolus graced the main alter for the double-ring rites. Mrs. John Girard was organist as the men’s choir presented the “Missatertia Mass,” by Hollar. Chantilly race over tulle and satin fashioned the gown chosen by the bride, who was given in marriage by her father. The bouffant skirt featured tiers of tulle with an overskirt of lace, which fell to a chapel length train. Sequins and pearls outlined the scoop neckline which . styled the bodice. Brief shirred sleeves completed the details. Happiness roses surrounded the orchid in her bridal bouquet, and her fingertip veil of illusion was <

caught to a crown of tulle and pearls. Attending her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. Bertram Schmenk, of near Fort Wayne. She appeared in a ballerina length gown of pink chromespun taffeta and lace styled on empire lines. Her headpiece was a matching braided crown which held a short veil dotted with rhinestones. She carried a bouquet of red roses and pink carnations. In an ensemble styled identically to that of the matron of honor, Mrs. Claire Nelson, sister of the bridegroom, of near Fort Wayne, served as bridesmaid. The Misses Donna and Dianne Minick, twin nieces of the bride, of near Fort Wayne, acted as flower girls. Their gowns were styled similarly to the honor attendant’s, except that their bouffant skirts were floor length. They carried baskets with red roses and pink carnations. Charles Voglewede, friend of the bridegroom, of Decatur, was best man, and Bertram Schmenk, brother-in-law of the bride, of near Fort Wayne, and William Mowery, brother of the bridegroom, of Decatur, seated the guests. At the Moose lodge from 2 until 4:30 o’clock this afternoon, the bridal party will receive 250 guests. For her going-away attire, the new Mrs. Mowery has chosen a two-piece ensemble of cupioni with accents of Venice lace. Graduated from Decatur Catholic high school, the bride has been employed by the Central Soya company here. An alumnus of Decatur Catholic also, the bridegroom is serving with the United States Marine Corps at El Roro (Santa Ana> Calif., where the newlyweds will make their home. — . Twins were born to Allen and Dorothy Myers Brown, of Fort Wayne, in the Parkview hospital in Fort Wayae Tuesday. Mr and Mrs. Frank Myers, of Blue Creek township, are the maternal grandparents. Barbara Ann is the name of the seven-pound daughter born to Thomas E. and Emily Costello, of 1919 Wells street. The meeting was held at the close of the Wabash county conservation field day and plowing match.
