Senators And Tigers Win In ' Little League Extremes in baseball were displayed in Tuesday night's Little League double header at Worthman field, aa > well-pitched, low scoring game marked the opener, and a wild, high scoring contest took over in the nightcap. The Senators shut, out the White Sox, 3-0, in the opener, and the Tigers overpowered the Indians, 18-6, in the nightcap. Richard Hakey, Senators' hurler, blanked the White Sox on only one , hit, a double by his pitching op, ponent, Max Elliott, in the fourth inning. Hakey walked only one bat§md fanned six. Elliott held th ♦ tors to five hits, but two runs • id in the first inping on sinby Donnie Feasel and Gary Schultz, aided by two errors. The final run scored in the second on three walks and a wild pitch. The nightcap was a nip and tuck affair for five innings, but the Tigers ran wild for 12 runs in the sixth to score the victory. The teams were tied at 4-4 after three - tonings, and the Tigers took the lead with two runs in the fourth, " but the Indians came back to score two in the fifth for a 6-6 tie. The I Tigers then put together five hits' and six walks with four errors to score 12 times. Bill Conrad had three hits, all doubles, to lead the Tigers’ 11-hlt attack. Jim Martin, Carl Hakes and Alan Kalver each -had three safeties. Dick Schrock had half of his team’s four hits. Playoff Plans Are Set For Teams In Federation League Playoff plans have been set up for the Federation league, starting next week. Pairings were made for eight teams, with Edgerton and Massa Construction drawing first round byes, and Tony and Jim’s Cantina dropping out beca- ■ use of injuries to players. The playoff opens Tuesday, Aug. 6, with AFL-CIO meeting Harlan at DeWenger park. Colonial Oil plays the Blue Sox Wednesday, Aug. Farm Forester Is Hired For District Joseph Bruggenschmidt, technical forester graduate oi Purdue; University, has been employed as, farm forester for 13 counties in' Northeastern Indiana, it was announced today by the Indiana department of conservation. Bruggtnschmidt will provide technical forestry assistance to farmers and other woodland owners as part of the forestry division's pitgram. Headquarters for the new forester will be conservation officers’ post headquarters, "at Wells county game farm, Bluffton.
