AUGUST 3 BRIDE-ELECT IS HONORED WITH SHOWER At the home of Mrs. Arthur Braun recently, Miss Joanne Braun, August 3 bride-elect, was Complimented with a miscellaneous shower given by the Mesdames Bertram Schmenk and Leigh Nelson, Ft. Wayne; and Bill Mowrey, Jerry Ketchum, Ned Myer, and Arthur Braun. Miss Braun will become the bride of Walter Mowery on the third. The entertaining room was decorated in pink. A sprinkling can was over the gifts, and a bride doll helped carry out the shower theme. In shower games played, prizes were won by the Mesdames Tom Ulman, Donald Minick, Bill Braun, and Ed Gelzleichtner. Attending the shower to honor the bride-to-be were the Mesdames Ed Gelzleichtner, Fort Wayne; Lawrence Braun, Vernon Kreigh, Donald Minick, Richard Braun. Tom Ulman, Bill Braun, John Braun, and Charles Mowery. Sending gifts but unable to attend were the Mesdames Elmo Smith, Eugene Knodel, and Leo Teeple. and the Misses Virginia Smith and Leah Brandyberry. THREE LINKS SOCIAL FOLLOWS LODGE MEETING After the regular fourth Tuesday meeting of the Olive Rebekah Lodge, the members convened in a Three Links social meeting Tuesdav evening at the Odd Fellows hall. Hortesses were Mrs. Clara Dr. urn and Mrs. George Myers. In bingo games, Mrs. Burt Haley and Miss Iva Gilpen won prizes. MRS. STUMP IS TUESDAY ETA TAU SIGMA HOSTESS Mrs. Don Stump of Fort Wayne was hostess to the Tuesday evening meeting of Eta Tau Sigma sqcf ial sorority. / - Taking care of dues collection for the 11 members present was Mrs. Ray Heller, secretary-trea-surer. Mrs. Richard Arnold won first prize in the bridge games played, and Mrs. Lawrence Rash was awarded second. Jolly Juniors Ninth meeting for the Preble Jolly Juniors was held at the Preble recreation center, recently. President Linda Kruetzman called the meeting to order, and pledges were led by Judy Goldner. “Where you want to go on your 4-H trip’’ served as ’roll call response. How to exhibit cake and cookies” was the fbpic of the demonstration given by Lila Kruetzman and Judy Goldner. Refreshments were served by Judy and Dick Goldner before the meeting adjourned. Kut-Ups Monday the Kirkland Kut-Ups tnet at the Pleasant Dale parish hall, with Carol Haggard presiding Miriam Yager and Rosemary Schlickman led the pledge for the ten members present. Among the announcements were the dates for the local judging, the 4-H fair, and a swimming party coming up for the Kut-Ups. Mrs. Dean Reber underwent major surgery Wednesday at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne. Her room number is 210. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Miller and daughters, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Roop and sons, are presently on a’ motor trip through northern Michigan and Canada. Leaving Saturday for a month's trip through the New England itates will be Mr. and Mrs. James K. Staley and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Staley. Miss Donna Owens, who underwent emergency surgery Tuesday evening at the Adams county memorial hospital is reported “doing fine” today. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Owens, of Monmouth, she is in room 306. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Kent and children, of Chicago, 111., are visiting with Miss Margaret Holthouse. The city of Van Wert, 0., has adopted a city plan which includes a three mile strip beyond the city limits, under the direction of their city planning committee. The 1958 city budget of Van Wert, 0., was set at $294,067, an'increase over the previons high budget of $257,067.80 in 1955. . Two suits in a plastic bag, belonging to John Heffner, of Decatur, were stolen from his car while it was parked at the rear of a business establishment in Bluffton. W. P. Robinson, well-known Decatur man. suffered a stroke at his home yesterday morning, and remains in poor condition at the Adams county memorial hospital. Paul Bixler, a life guard at Pine Lake, received painful burns on his face and left arm from a charcoal burner Tuesday afternoon, and spent the night at the Adams county memorial hospital. Alfred “Tuck” Clauser, Berne furniture dealer, was reappointed to the Berne school board for four years by the city council of that city. A young Amish farmer, Paul M. Coblentz, 25, of Holmes county, 0., murdered last week, is a distant cousin of Albert Coblentz.of route 2, Geneva, and Eli Coblentz of near Berne. Two gunman entered the home, stabbed, shot and killed Coblentz, and raped his wife. More than 1,153 beneficiaries receive $54,957 a month from social security payments in Wells county. i Holy Communion At Church On Sunday Holy Communion will be celebrated at both worship services Sunday morning, 8 and 10:30, at Zion Lutheran church.
