RECEPTION TO HONOR MISS MARA DEE STRIKER At the K. of P. home Sunday afternoon the Decatur Sunshine Girls council will honor one of two state Pythian council officers from the Decatur council—-Miss Mara Dee Striker, recently elected grand royal princess of Indiana Sunshine Girls council. Upon her arrival, the honored guest received a corsage of pink and white carnations, and pink and white flowers adorned the luncheon table. A pink and white umbrella adorned the gift table. JOLLY HOUSEWIVES HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUB MEETS Tuesday evening at the Pleasant Mills school, the Jolly Housewives home demonstration club of St. Mary’s Townshop convened, with Mrs. Carl Frey in charge. Opening the meeting, the members read the club creed, and Mrs. Agnes Backhaus offered devotions. “Song of Peace” was the song of the month for July. ROOT TOWNSHIP CLUB HEARS TWO LESSONS TUESDAY Two lessons from the Root Township home demonstration club delegates to the recent Purdue conference highlighted the Tuesday evening meeting of that group at the home of Mrs. Richard Harkless. After opening the meeting by reading the club creed, the members heard Mrs. Ralph Rice offer devotions, based on Mark 11:24. Mrs. Robert Carr and Mrs. Leo King presented the two lessons: “Meat Makes the Meal” and “Lighting Your Home,” respectively. Mrs. Carr, in telling how meat is important, named the eight grades of beef so the members may also judge quality. Proper heights of floor lamps and such lighting fixtures were main points of Mrs. King's talk. With roll call, each member named a “pleasant time I've had,” and the brief business meeting followed, Mrs. Harold Owens, president, conducting. Present were 23 members and one guest, Mrs. Herbert Braun, a former club member, now of Michigan City.
