No better time than the present to check your home for dangers which might be lurking in the shadows. Frayed cords, broken switches, bad steps, slippery floors, and a hundred other traps for accidents can usually be found and are often neglected long enough to permit accidents. Check your own home for signs of booby-traps. Do it now. — *O O "" The resignation of Loren S. Jones as principal of the Monmouth school is noted with regret by hi* many patrons and friends. All the picnic, vacation, and summer-living supplies can be found in our stores. Jt will pay you to visit the Decatur merchants to find the various items needed for your pleasure this summer season. Shop the Decatur way and make it pay. 0 O Another pest which bears watching at all times is the ant. These insects vary in color from yellow to red, black to brown and are up to one-half inch in length. His appetite ranges from wood to most anything eaten by man. They enter the home through crevices and small holes in the baseboard, thresholds, cracks at door and window sills, walls and concrete floors and pipe openings. Find the trail and follow it to their nest or hill. Spray a good Insecticide at all ports of entry and even on the hill or at the nest. Use the spray liberally and often to control these pests. —4 O O u—— Though there are more than two months to go until the world series, the American league can, begin to think in terms of next year while the other race will probably go down to the last week or two. In case the men of Stengel need some help, there is the farm club to which they can turn and pick UP the necessary insurance. The only semblence of major league ball is spotty though apparent at times in the other race. At least they are able to keep their fans awake and the interest remains above normal. Still called the great American game it leaves the real baseball fan cold when he recalls better days. —-0 O . 1 “Schools, utilities, homesites, industrial sites, commercial developments, streets, highways, sanitation systems, parks and recreational areas, airports, subdivisions, and public buildings*are all community facilities that must be related to the needs of the communities people”, according to the Indiana economic council. It then behooves each locality to modernize to anticipate the growth that has been the rule in the past. How many of the above are ready for a population of several thousand more residents of Decatur? If even one is not adequate tptake care of the* anticipated increase then we have work to do. Let’s not postpone Buch action if it is in keeping with our future. * :.
