Close Games Mark Little League Play Two close games, one going into extra innings, featured Tuesday night's Little League double header at Worthman field. The Red Sox edged out the Yankees, 4-3, in the opener which went to eight innings, and in the nightcap, the Tigers took over the league lead by squeaking past the Indians, 5-4. The Red Sox and Yankees each scored once in the first inning. The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on a home run by Steve Gause, but the Yankees tied it in the bottom of the sixth when Greg Ladd singled and came all the way around the bases on a bad throw from the outfield. The Red Sox took the lead with two runs in the eighth on two errors, a double by Mike Baker and Dennie Baker’s single. Bob Ladd led off the Yankees’ eighth with a home run. Dan Lose followed with a double, but was thrown out at the plate attempting to score the tying run . nfter an error. |

The Tigers regained the lead with a pair in the third on a. walk, two errors and Conrad's second hit, and increased their lead with one >-un in the fourth on singles by Dave Magley and John Lose. The Indians fought back to a tie with ‘wo in the fifth on singles by Harold Ballard and Dick Landrum, a fielder’s choice and a forceout. Will All-Star Win Jinx Casey Stengel ST. LOUIS (UP) — It history repeats, manager Casey Stengel'* New York Yankees will lose the 1957 American League pennant because he won the All-Star Game Tuesday. Klenk’s Faces Four Gaines In As Many Days Klenk’s of Decatur, with tour games in the next tour days, will be putting their chances of a high finish in the Federation league squarely on the line. The four-game card will open Thursday night, with Klenk’s entertaining the Blue Sox at 8 o'clock under the lights at Worthman field. Friday night at 8 o’clock, the Decatur team, which has lost only two Federation games to date, will meet Tony and Jim’s Cantina at Dwenger park in Fort Wayne. The big game la coming up Saturday night, as Klenk’s will host the present league leaders, the Colonial Oilers, at 8 o'clock at Worthman field. The rigorouu schedule will wind up Sunday afterrioon at 2 o’clock, , when Massa Construction will meet , Klenk’s, also at Worthman field. I . Berne Defeats Braves In Pony I League Tuesday Berne defeated the Decatur Braves, 7-3, in an Adams county Pony League game Tuesday evening at the Berne diamond. The ' game was changed to Tuesday to clear the way for a practice session for the league's all-star team Thursday at Berne. Each team obtained only three hits but Berne took better. advantage of its opportunities, aided by four Decatur errorts and eight bases on balls. ; Berne scored single runs in four different innings and tallied three , times in the third on two hits, ' three walks and an error. The club is composed of Adams county men interested in hunting coon with dogs. Monroeville Plans Annual Horse Show Date of the annual horse show of the Monroeville Saddle club has been set for August 18. Tentative plans for the event are presently underway; with Asa Brouwer, president of the organization, in charge. To be held at the Sinclair station in Monroeville, this year's horse show will begin at 1 p.m. that Sunday.
